Who is Boo Radley? ~To Kill a Mockingbird~
“Jem gave a reasonable description of Boo: Boo was about six-and-a-half feet tall, judging from his tracks; he dined on raw squirrels and any cats he could catch, that's why his hands were bloodstained - if you ate animal raw, you could never wash the blood off. There was a long jagged scar that ran across his face; what teeth he had were yellow and rotten; his eyes popped, and he drooled most of the time.” Pg 16.
The children make up many descriptions as to what boo Radley looks like. Many are far fetched, and unlikely to be true.
I picture Boo Radley as tall brown haired man in his late 40's. I believe that many of the rumors and beliefs that the town has about him are untrue, and that Boo is a good person.
Since he hasn`t been seen outside of the house in years, many believe that he is violent or rude. I think this is untrue based on the hints we have been given in the novel so far.
"Some tinfoil was sticking in a knot-hole just above my eye level, winking at me in the afternoon sun." Pg 44.
``Boo Radley. You were so busy looking at the fire, you didn`t know it when he put the blanket around you.`` Pg 96.
I believe that the person leaving gifts for the children in the tree was Boo Radley. Also, Boo put a blanket over Scout`s shoulders to keep her from getting cold. This shows the he is kind, and wanted to help the children.
Based on the hints we have been given in the novel, I believe that Boo Radley is a kind person that is misunderstood by the town, and by the children.
