MPS Early middle college program

What is the Early Middle College Program? The EMC program is a five-year program of study. We work closely with two post-secondary partners, Davenport University and Delta College, to provide students with an opportunity to earn a high school diploma and one or more of the following: 60 transferable credits, an associate degree, or a professional certificate. Almost all expenses are paid for by MPS. For more information, click the button below.
Fifth grade students at Central Park Elementary had the opportunity to host an educator from the Chippewa Nature Center and learn about how the Indignenous People of Michigan used local natural resources for survival. Through a very interactive presentation, students were able to handle rock and bone tools, explore a variety of animal hides, drill to try and make fire, and investigate an extensive collection of artifacts including bows, baskets, seeds, animal tendons, shells, rocks, bones, plants, antlers, etc - what an eye-opening experience learning how resourceful the indigenous people were! Thank you to our community partners for making this experience possible for our CPE Explorers!
On December 7, elementary students across the district celebrated our ten year PYP journey with a Learner Profile celebration. Students and staff were encouraged to dress like one of the ten attributes of the Learner Profile. The Learner Profile is at the heart of the Primary Years Programme, and aims to develop learners who are knowledgeable, caring, balanced, open-minded, risk-takers, communicators, thinkers, inquirers, principled, and reflective. Well done to our elementary students and staff who continue to demonstrate the traits of the Learner Profile every day!
The Chestnut Hill Chipbotics team had a great team competing in the Lego League competition in Freeland the weekend of December 3rd and 4th. Congratulations on your hard work!
Northeast Middle School Resource Officer Andrew Hawkins presented a lesson on the practical applications of the Bill of Rights to the 8th grade students at Northeast Middle School. Students are currently learning about the Constitution and the Bill of Rights in their U.S. History classes. Thank you Officer Hawkins!
Sanford Riders Toyz for Kidz program is designed to provide toys for children in need within Midland County. Each December, this group offers dinner and entertainment at the Sanford American Legion #443 in exchange for a new unwrapped toy. This event is open to the public and the toys that are donated are then distributed to the local school districts. This is the tenth year running for this program and The Sanford Riders have grown it each year. 10 Siebert families were given toys this year! Thank you Sanford Riders!
