The 2007 CIA World Fact book listed the religion of France as Roman Catholic 83–88%, Protestant 2%, Jewish 1%, Muslim 5%–10%, unaffiliated 4%. In 2002 the CIA World Fact book stated that 88–92% of the French population was Catholic.
Food
French cuisine is ever-changing, complex and varies by region, but there are some main staples, namely bread, cheese and wine. The French eat breads such as baguettes and croissants and a lot of cheeses such as Comté and Brie. Wine is the main drink of choice in France.

Music
The Auvergne region is especially known for its Cornemuse, or Cabrette bagpipes, a lower-pitched, gentler and simpler cousin of the Breton pipes. These pipes are an essential accompaniment to the Bal-Folk set dances of the region. ... The hurdy-gurdy is also an integral part of central French folk music.
Dance
If you have some basic understanding of French art and music, you have to be familiar with a few of the basic dance forms, for example Waltz, Polka, Mazurka, Marche, Scottish, Rondeau and the Bourree. Carols and Baroque dances are also popular traditional dances in France.

As you can see, people wear berets all the time, Most commonly people wear what they want and nothing really is special bout there outfits. French artist and stylist wear berets a lot of the time.

History/Famous events
1789. On July 14, citizens storm the Bastille, a Paris prison. The French Revolution begins. Each year, France celebrates Bastille Day, the event that led to the royal family being overthrown.
Important People in History
Marie Antoinette (1755 – 1793) Austrian born – French Queen, executed during the French revolution. Marie Antoinette was born in Austria and, at a young age, married to King Louis XVI of France. She came to symbolise the privilege and power of the French Monarchy and by the time of the French Revolution she had became a hate symbol for those wishing to overthrow the privilege of the French aristocracy. In 1793, she was sent to the guillotine and executed by the Revolutionary authorities.
