Ringing the Bell
After winning a home game Granville athletes ring the victory bell to celebrate. "It is a great feeling to ring it after a big win," senior football player Christian Hilton said. Athletes look forward to ringing it after the game because "Ringing the bell is a reward for leaving your blood sweat and tears on the field," senior football player Carsyn Crouch said.
Painting the rock
This tradition happens every year right before school and the football season starts. The senior football players and cheerleaders get to paint their names and numbers on the rock that is placed outside of the high school. This rock is seen by all the fans before entering the Hodges stadium for a game. "This is something to look forward to doing throughout our four years of high school. It feels special to finally be the ones with our names on the rock," senior cheerleader Shelene Day said. The seniors love to have their names and numbers on the rock but this also means that it is the end of an era for that graduating class. "It is bittersweet to see number 7 painted on the rock," senior football player Carsyn Crouch said.
Alma Mater
After winning a football game the football players and cheerleaders gather to celebrate by singing the school's alma mater. This tradition has been going on for many years which makes the song special to our athletes. "It's a good tradition that shows our blue ace pride," senior football player Kaison Durham said.
Senior picnic
The senior picnic is held every year at the end of the school year. It is a kickoff to the senior's graduation and sending them off to their next chapter. Held on a school day, the seniors of that graduating year are sent to wildwood to have a picnic with their fellow classmates. "It is a fun time for people to hang out and eat, it is a great way to end the year," senior class adviser Mrs. Simmons said.
TP Night
TP Night is a tradition held by the varsity football cheerleaders. During this event, the cheerleaders go from house to house of all of the senior football players toilet papering them. This takes place during homecoming week. "The goal is to make it to every house without anyone waking up so that everyone is equally surprised. This means we have to be quick and quiet when toilet papering their houses," senior cheerleader Shelene Day said. "We look forward to it every year and it is the highlight of homecoming week and somehow the boys never see it coming."
