Ingoldsby Academy Update March 2023

We are already more than halfway through the academic year and what a busy year this is turning out to be! Again, welcome to all of our new families. I hope you will find our school and community friendly, supportive but ambitious for your children. Here is a quick update to share a few activities that have been going on in school and some upcoming events.

World Book Day tomorrow!

Dress as a character or a word!

In this video we hear from Cressida Cowell, author of the magical How to Train Your Dragon series, on her tips for talking about books with your children.

Art Days

Over this term, children are taking part in an art day as part of a National Gallery project called take one picture. Take One Picture is the national programme for primary schools, which aims to inspire a lifelong love of art and learning.

Wraparound changes

We are implementing a new system for booking and paying for Foxes wraparound provision. This will require parents to book in advance via the ParentPay app commencing w/c 13th March. A letter has been sent out via MCAS with further details. Here are our terms of reference:

Bikability

Applications are open to year 4 and 5 and must be handed in by tomorrow morning. Children taking part must have and be able to ride a bike independently in order to take part. Places are limited. This is first come first served. Permission forms have been sent home with pupils and via MCAS.

Hold the date- 31st March

The PTFA are hosting a parent event on the last day of term after school. More to follow in the PTFA newsletter.

Royal Opera Visit to London

Buzzard class had the pleasure of visiting London to watch the opera 'The magic Flute'. An enjoyable day was had by all and we are pleased to have opened up the project to all of key stage 2. Pupils have had a rehearsal with other schools in Corby and will be performing with the Royal Opera House at the Corby Cube on the Monday 13th March. What an opportunity!

Chinese New Year

We celebrated Chinese new year across the school through arts, crafts and food with Ms Wu. We were so lucky to benefit from her expertise and experience on this very special day.

Singsation

Buzzards and Kestrels had the opportunity to sing with a live band at Walton Academy as we took part in the local Singsation event!

Numbots Launch

From the makers of TTRS, we have purchased Numbots to support pupils practicing early fluency skills. This is most suitable for Early Years and Key Stage 1 however it can help to gain speediness and automaticity for some pupils in Key Stage 2. Logins have been shared by class teachers.
