Client Guide 2024

Meet your photographer

My Name is Nikki, the girl behind My Darling Boudoir KC <3

I have spent my entire teenage and cult life hiding self harm scars, insecurities, and the feeling of not being beautiful, curvy or feminine enough. I hid behind baggy clothes, pony tails, scars, acne, and bipolar II disorder.

It wasn’t until I found my 20s that I started to become more comfortable in my own skin, and seeing my own true beauty in just being me. I started to wear form fitting clothes for my body type make-up because it looked artistic, and styling my hair more than just a pony tail. I would look at myself and think, “damn, I am pretty awesome just the way I am.”

Finally, I reached my 30’s and found my true confidence in myself. I knew that I was perfect in my own body, even if there were scars, folds, and a history of life.

After I had my first child, I realized though, I wanted something more in life. I wanted to show other people that they were beautiful and perfect just the way they are.

That was why I decided to become a boudoir photographer. I wanted to share my vision that everyone is beautiful, with their quirkiness, scars, folds, history, skin, age, and anything else, it was a part of them, and that is what made them beautiful and perfect.

Don’t let your insecurities rule your life. Be you, and let me show you how beautiful you truly are.

“Real beauty is to be true to oneself. That is what makes me feel good.”

What Should I Wear?

The most important thing to remember, is bring whatever makes YOU feel good and confident! So if that includes an oversized sweater, DO IT!

Bring a Teddy, full bra and panty set. Bustiers always look amazing! Your partner’s shirt, oversized sweater, white button down, Etc. The choices are endless!

Can I Be Nude?

You can wear (Or NOT wear) whatever YOU want! Whatever makes you feel makes you feel the most comfortable and confident! Nipples & bare butts are totally fine!

Prep Tip 01

Moisturize your body before you come to your session. Skip oils and sparkly options. Do not use anything with a self tanner though!

Drink plenty of fluids.

Prep Tip 02

Wear loose-fitting clothes to avoid lines and marks on your body that will show up in the pictures. This includes a bra. I recommend wearing a tank top to keep the girls comfortable. Sports bras typically leave marks, please skip that!

Prep Tip 03

Stay hydrated! Drink plenty of water in the weeks prior to your session to keep your skin radiant and glowing! Eat a small meal before your session - DO NOT SKIP BREAKFAST! That’s unhealthy and I promise you won’t see a small meal on your tummy!

Prep Tip 04

Shave your legs / under arms and anywhere else you would like to the night before to avoid razor burn! If waxing, please do so at least 48 hours in advance to minimize pink tones.

Do not get a spray tan. Not only can your skin tone look uneven, but it gets on the furniture/bedding and there will not be specialty editing to make tan lines/colors match.

Prep Tip 05

Stretching

Stretch the day before your session and the day of your session! Nothing too crazy, you don’t want to be too sore at our session! Boudoir posing is a lot of back arching specifically, using your thighs, and muscles you never knew you had. Your back will most likely be sore the next day because you aren’t used to these poses or holding them for as long as you will!

The downward Dog is a great stretch

Hair and Make-Up Prep

I ask that you shower the morning of your boudoir session, moisturize your face, and come with clean and dry hair.

I have endless amounts of false eyelashes, glitter, and a wide variety of foundations to ensure we match you perfectly.

You will have the option to do a natural look, sexy Smokey eye, or a full glam look. I want you to feel

gorgeous

And still look like yourself!

It is completely your choice whether you want your hair to be curled, straightened, or allow it to be natural.

What if I have bruises, cuts, or blemishes?

I do slight retouching by removing bruises and little scratches and blemishes.

I will not do extensive editing to remove your history, such as stretch marks, surgery scars, etc because it is a part of you, and you should be proud. They document your life as a woman!

If you do wish for them to be removed, let’s talk. I can make them less visible. I can do poses that hide those areas as well.

What will my photos look like?

With any collection purchased, I do slight enhanced retouching to smooth skin tones, enhance eyes, lips, etc.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes! I offer convenient payment plans that are tailored to your individual need, whether it be bi-weekly or monthly payments.

Check out what Freebies & Bonuses you can get for pre-paying before your session!

What happens after I book my session?

To book a session, there is a $500 retainer and session fee. (Unless otherwise stated in a Flash Sale) This can be paid as a whole or in two payments.

Leading up to the session, there will be a Pre-session consultation opportunity where we discuss looks, style, and options of what you want your session to look like. I like to get examples of poses, hairstyles, and make-up look as well!

We determine the collection you are interested in, any add-on items and if you want to start a payment plan or pay in full, and anything else that needs to be planned!

Do I have to share my images?

Of course not. That is completely up to you, and is decided by signed a model release form or declining it. You can also determine which ones you allow to be shared and not shared too!
