Lyda Was born in Ohio Circa 1885. She was a hairdresser by trade. She also was a private hair dresser for a family. She fought for the women's right to vote. Her childhood was awful because was forced into slavery, and had no education.
Lyda A Newman invented the first hairbrush made out of synthetic bristles. The hairbrush could be taken apart easily so you could clean the hair out.
Lyda died when she was 52.
