CCY CONNECT May 2022

Motherhood was something that I truly wanted to experience. It wasn’t given to me right away. I had to wait seven long and tearful years. Then God blessed Brian and I with our daughter. All I wanted to do was hold her but she was our independent lil girl. Two years later God blessed us with our son. I got my cuddle bug!! He loved being wrapped in my loving arms as much as I loved holding him.

Now that they are both grown; our daughter is now married, our son is dating, and they're both in college. I’m missing those days. I know everyone has to grow up and become their own person, it’s just sad that I can’t be in their life all the time. I do appreciate the fact they are close so when they need to hear their mama's voice they both come to visit or give me a call.

In John 14:27 Jesus says,

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.”

‬‬ He wants us to be independently free to make our own choices. Living for Him in the world. He reassures us that He is always with us and that we can call on Him whenever. The peace we received when we are wrapped in His loving arms. ❤️

Happy Mother’s Day!

As our Seniors reach the end of one journey and move toward the next stage in their lives, I am grateful and honored to be able to celebrate with our 2022 graduates. Whether it be high school or college graduation, they are all stepping into a new part of life that comes with its unique challenges and opportunities!

The world is a weird and strange place with a tendency to throw us for a loop. Part of why I am so proud of our graduates is that they are finishing strong. In spite of the challenges of online learning, social distancing, and various distractions of the past few years, our youth are resilient!

Part of learning about adulthood and the challenges that come with "adulting" is prioritizing what is important in this new stage of life. It is tremendously easy to fall into the traps this world lays before and often, throws at us. We can quickly get caught up in putting things as idols and distractions above God, church, our family and loved ones, mental and physical health, and things that actually matter. Money, material items, greed, unhealthy relationships, status, unfruitful hobbies, and toxic movies/music/entertainment are all examples of distractions that get in the way of our growth as believers.

Our hope and our faith rely solely in the everlasting love and sacrifice made by Jesus Christ. Regardless of what this world throws at us, our true hope can always be found in Christ and a void that we cannot fill with all of those other distractions will only be found when we lean in and put our trust in Christ. Don’t fall to the ways of the world, but get plugged in and connect with other believers. Open up and be transparent about your struggles with people that you know will uplift you and guide you. The people you put yourself around will have a great impact on who you become and what you accomplish. Find out what your calling in life is and strive to use that calling to serve and glorify God above all else. A verse I have found recently in my struggles that has truly helped me reshape my focus is from 1st Peter 2:16 which reads “Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God.”

Let the gifts that God has given you be used to further His kingdom and always bring Him glory. You have so much to give. You are deemed worthy of love in the eyes of the Lord. You are a Child of God. Much love to you and yours!

Blessings, Chris Miller

CCY Outdoor Fellowship Update

CCY OUTDOOR FELLOWSHIP AREA PLANS

Thank you church for grabbing the vision of this new outreach opportunity for CCY. It will create many occasions for us to engage with the community, and it will create a unique space for fellowship and gathering. As stated during the initial introduction of the project, we want this to be a multi-use and multi-generational space for everyone to enjoy, so thank you for your support and generosity towards the project. Moving forward, we will need many hands to help complete projects as we work through the phases of completion, so there will be many chances to volunteer.

To give you an update and keep you informed…A couple of weeks ago, Sam Minick and I met with a professional landscape architect who drew up the plans, as seen here, for the area. We gave her the general outlook from the first draft drawing, but we insisted that she use her knowledge and creativity to provide the best use of the area. She understands the design process and requirements better than we do, so we wanted her to give us suggestions on materials, modifications to the area, and overall layout and function. We are excited to have her plans! Now that we have them, we will begin planning the phases and purchasing materials. While the overall project may take a while to complete, we are excited to see some of the phases start in the near future.
