The Harold Alfond Athletics and Recreation Center was packed full on Saturday, as Colby played hosts in Men's and Women's Squash, Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving, Women's Basketball, Men's Basketball, Women's Ice Hockey, and Men's Ice Hockey.
The College also celebrated the dedication of two large arenas: The Margaret M. Crook Center for basketball and volleyball, and the O'Neil | O'Donnell Forum and the Jack Kelley Rink for ice hockey.
#7 Women's Ice Hockey Sweeps Bowdoin
Fresh off a Codfish Bowl Championship last weekend where the Mules faced off against the Polar Bears in the final, Colby met Bowdoin Friday and Saturday for a home-and-home conference showdown.
In Brunswick Friday night, the Mules held a 2-1 lead halfway through the final frame, only to have the hosts tie the match with less than seven minutes to play. Colby kept pressing, and with four minutes remaining in the contest Stephanie Lane scored the game-winner, good for her second goal of the year.
In Saturday's home match against Bowdoin, Colby held the momentum from start to finish. Tate Senden scored the opening goal in the first period and Breanna Studley added insurance in the second, helping the Mules cruise to a 2-0 win and a three game sweep over the Polar Bears. Mandy Busky was perfect in net for Colby, turning away all 20 shots she faced to earn her second collegiate shutout.
Colby is now 5-0 on the season and remains the NESCAC's lone undefeated squad.
#13 Mules Top Polar Bears in Battle of Unbeatens
In their lone game of the week, the Men's Ice Hockey team hosted Bowdoin Saturday night in a battle of unbeatens. Both squads entered the contest 4-0, looking to claim the top step in the conference standings.
After a scoreless first period, the visitors scored twice in the second frame to take a 2-1 advantage into the third.
James Tepper tallied his first collegiate goal only minutes into the third period to tie the game. With less than three minutes remaining in regulation, Henry Molson scored the game-winner, sending the sellout crowd into an uproar. Drew Burke added an empty-netter moments later, and Colby ran its streak to six wins in a row against Bowdoin.
Colby is now 5-0 on the season and remains the NESCAC's lone undefeated squad.
Men's Basketball Tops Bowdoin and Brandeis, Falls to Emory
The Mules traveled to Brunswick mid-week to take on Bowdoin in a non-conference matchup. Colby topped their hosts 68-52, led by Lucas Green (16 points) and Alec McGovern (14 points) off the bench. Noah Tyson tallied his 1000th point, becoming the 41st member of Colby Men's Basketball's 1000-pt club.
On the weekend, Colby hosted the UAA/NESCAC Challenge splitting their games against Brandeis (66-52 win) and Emory (66-80 loss). Will King played a great game against Brandeis, dishing out six assists, with four rebounds and 12 points. In the Emory matchup, King, Max Poulton, and Tyson combined for 42 points, but the Eagles (a top-25 team) outscored the Mules 15-4 in the final three minutes to take the victory.
Colby now sits at 8-1 on the season.
Women's Basketball Drops Close Battles with MMA, Bowdoin
Colby hosted Maine Maritime Academy Tuesday for a non-conference matchup. Carter McGloon had the hot hand for the Mules, netting 25 points and six rebounds followed by Caroline Smith with 14 points and seven assists. However, the visitors rode a scorching second quarter to a 67-62 victory.
In the second game of the week, Bowdoin owned an eight-point halftime lead, and stretched it out to 14 points halfway through the fourth quarter. Colby fought back and closed the gap to eight, but the Polar Bears continued to convert offensive opportunities and stole a 60-48 win over their rivals. Smith led the way for the Mules totaling 20 points, with Gabrielle Hemenes grabbing 11 boards and two blocks.
Colby now has an even 3-3 record to start the season.
Colby Swimming and Diving Hosts Maine Collegiate Invite
The Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving teams hosted eight schools in their two-day meet. The Men topped all the competition, placing first with a total score of 1,103 points while the Women took 4th place (out of nine teams).

Squash Faces Three Opponents on Mayflower Hill
The Men's Squash team started the week off strong sweeping Conn. College 9-0. Eight of the nine matches had a score of 3-0 with only one being 3-1.
On Saturday, the Mules fell to Franklin and Marshall in a close battle 4-5. The winners against the Diplomats include Youssef Mostafa, Jonathan Sosa Uranga, Adrian Castillo, and Sebastian Campos.
Colby ended the day strong beating Navy 8-1. These winners include Dylan Tymkiw, Mostafa, Uranga, Castillo, Sen Subramaniam, Rintaro Yamamoto, Campos, and Kit Illick.
On the Women's side, Colby totaled the same scores sweeping Conn. College 9-0 and falling to Franklin and Marshall 4-5. Winners against the Diplomats include Andrea Lee, India Spencer, Juliette Love, Paloma Gordon, and Mehak Dey-Kohli.
In the afternoon, the Women's team lost another tough battle, this time to Georgetown 4-5. Winners include Lee, Aileen Dominguez, and Amanda Miller.
The Men's Squash team now has a 3-3 record while the Women's team sits at 2-3.
