Jingi Walla - Welcome!

We acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land, the Arakwal people of the Bundjalung nation. We are grateful for the winding creek - Balun - and the Bangalow Palm trees, that are not just pretty but also a source of food, water and materials for the Arakwal people. We are thankful we can learn whilst we play on this land. We respect and love our Jugan - land. We treat all elders with jarima (pronounced Garima) - respect. We will take action to protect, unite and connect with Country.

Happy School Holidays! School resumes for Term 4 on Monday 10 October

class of the week - wajung (1/2a)

This term has been a very exciting and engaging time for all of us in Wajung. We have been able to show our ability to be Connected, Adventurous and Driven Learners through involvement in lots of extra curricular activities such as the Colour Fun Run, Netball and #Shrek the Musical. In class we have also been engaged with many fun learning activities including learning about natural resources in Science, deep diving to learn about protecting Sea Turtles in English, understanding the places and spaces that surround us in Geography, enjoying percussion and experimenting with instruments in Music, and creating amazing underwater artworks in Visual Arts.

We cannot wait to share with you the many learning experiences that we have undertaken this term, we hope you enjoy them!

the pit stop

Heartfelt thanks to our wonderful parent community who came out to support The Pit Stop on Sunday.

Whether you baked, made jar tombolas, worked on a stall, sold raffle tickets, set up tents, shared information through your networks, donated raffle prizes or spent up big on the day… you helped raise funds for our children and their new nature playground.

Together we raised over $30,000!!

What a stellar effort! Especially with the constraints of setting up on the road and relearning the ropes after a two year hiatus.

Big thanks to Carol, the Administration team, Teachers and GA Mark for all their efforts and support.

An honourable mention to the school construction crew who bought 30 raffle ticket books!

And special thanks to the Lions Club and Greg Nash for their partnership and coordinating such a wonderful day for our community!

Big thanks to the P&C fundraising committee who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make The Pit Stop a success… David, Chami, Pramod, Nell, Emma, Mike, Tony, Kira, Jason and Anna.

Feel free to send any feedback through so we can build on our success for next year!

Thanks,

Anna Vinfield - 0417 009 547

enrolments

Kindergarten enrolments are well under way for next year. Kindy Orientation will commence early in Term 4. Please remember that in order for students to attend Kindy O, they must be enrolled (due to Duty of Care regulations). We are very much looking forward to welcoming our new Kindergarten students into our wonderful community.

If you have a child and are yet to enrol in Kindy for next year, please contact the school via phone or email to begin your Kindergarten enrolment process, or you can ENROL ONLINE. Similarly, if you know of any local families who may be looking to enrol, please encourage them to do so. In this way we can inform them of information sessions and transition dates.

As the year quickly draws near to end, we ask you to please inform the school as soon as possible if you know that your child will not be at Bangalow PS next year. We rely on accurate enrolment information to form the basis of our staffing and class organisation. We appreciate your help in this matter.

school visitor check-in

Every visitor to our school site needs to check in at the school office - this is NSW Department of Education policy.  This used to be in the form of a paper sign-on book, however all schools have now moved to a digital sign-in procedure, using a QR code.

Many parents and carers are familiar with the process of using their phone to scan our school’s QR code and sign-in as a visitor but what happens if you forget your phone? We’ve got you covered. Our new School Visitor Check-in concierge iPad device and app is designed to help you check-in and check-out in mere moments! You can continue to check-in with your phone, but if you need an alternative, please use the concierge device at front reception.

Sending an absence notification to school?

please don't just write "sick"!

When your child is absent from school, please advise us of the reason as soon as possible. You can do this with a simple phone call to the office, or by completing an Absentee Form in the School Stream app. If you are reporting the absence electronically, or responding to our automated SMS (which is sent out at 11am each day to parents of students who are absent without an explanation), please be sure to leave a detailed reason. If your child is unwell, please provide some further information so we don' t have to follow up with another phone call (e.g. "cold/flu", "headache", "tummy bug", etc).
