Community Space
With twelve parks covering more than 115 acres, Montevideo has earned its title of "City of Parks." Nine of the parks are neighborhood parks and are scattered throughout residential areas. The remaining three - Smith, Lagoon, and Wildwood are located along the picturesque Chippewa River, which winds through Montevideo.
Smith Park is Montevideo's premier picnicking and gathering location. Three log shelter buildings, constructed as WPA projects in the 1930's, along with playground equipment, volleyball and horseshoe courts are shaded by its many majestic trees.
Lagoon Park has ten campsites, eight with water and electrical hookups, and provides modern bathroom and shower facilities.
Wildwood Park boasts nature trails which wind along the Chippewa River, providing an ideal hiking ambience.
Fiesta Days - since 1943
Montevideo Fiesta Days is celebrated the 3rd week/weekend in June! Head to Montevideo for the community picnic, kiddie parade, Jr. Coronation, taco feed, beer garden, fireworks, fireman's dance, Grande Day Parade, and more!
Chippewa County Fair
A weekend you do not want to miss at the fairgrounds in Montevideo! The Chippewa County Fair is fun for the whole family - carnival rides, 4-H shows, tons of food, live entertainment, and more!
Heritage Days
Heritage Days promises to be a great weekend for the entire family! The activities provide entertainment for all ages and interests. Wander through a one-room school house, restored prairie farm house, a chapel, a blacksmith shop, and other buildings. There are also tractor displays, parade, tractor pulls, great food, and much more!
