Chanin Scott is not only a beast on the court, but she is also an entrepreneur in the business arena.
She scored in double-digits 12 times, including scoring 20-plus points in three games.
“Last year my performance exceeded my expectations,” said Scott. “I ended up being one of the premier scorers for the team.”
Scott averaged 14.6 points, 7 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 2.2 steals per game during the 2021-22 season. She is likely to earn first team All-Big South honors when that tape is announced.
Similarly her stats earned her All-MEAC in 2021, when she averaged 14.3 points, 8.6 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.3 steals per game.
“It felt good to earn the first All-MEAC honors award,” Scott said. “Going back to my parents playing, it felt good to play in their conference and conquer it.”
Both her parents played in the MEAC, so that inspired her to want to play in the same conference they did.
In her best games, she scored 23 points twice in the NCAA Tournament in February and March of 2021. She played against North Carolina Central and N.C. State.
“It felt great to play at the NCAA tournament,” Scott said. “It felt amazing because it was really competitive, and we had a chance to upset a top team to advance in the playoffs.”
Scott also has her own perfume line called ‘Chance’.
“My perfume line is my highest paying NIL deal, '' Scott said. “It's a partnership with Scent Craft, and they reached out to me to create my own scent line.”
Scott spent the past 6 months curating a fragrance that embodies everything she stands for.
She went to Myers Park High School where she helped them go to several conferences, district and state championships in not only basketball but volleyball and track.
“Myers helped me with my basketball journey,” Scott said. “My basketball coach at my high school, Barber Nelson, was also my AAU coach.”
Scott says her coach helped her pick what sport to play in college. Picking basketball, Scott’s coach helped her improve her shooting skills.
"After college, I’m looking to play professionally, so I’m not looking to stay in Charlotte,” Scott said.
Scott is from Charlotte, NC, which is becoming a popular city for business and financial services.
“I enjoyed my time in Atlanta at Georgia Tech, so I wouldn’t mind staying there a couple of years before moving somewhere else,” Scott said.
Scott is great at academics as well as sports. She is a member of the Dream Team, Dean’s List, President’s Award, and Honor Roll.
‘I’m the oldest of four kids, so a lot of times I operate in a way that I would want my sibling to,” Scott said. “So I feel like I set a great example for what hard work can do and get you.”
Scott has big dreams where she inspires to be a professional basketball player, entrepreneur, and sports model after college.
