Learning round-up

Maple have made a great start to the second term! In talk for writing this week we have been looking at The Mad Scientist diary and having a go at writing sentences of three. In geography we have been looking at important rivers from around the world and the three main stages of a river. What a fantastic start to the second term. Maple Keep up the hard work!

What a great start to our second term! Silver Birch have settled extremely well after the break and have been working hard across the curriculum! In science we have continued learning about forces and have been introduced to some simple machines. In history we have been learning about the Shang Dynasty and we are starting our first computing unit this week, which the children are excited about! I am very excited to see how we do this term!

Pine class have come back from half term excited and ready to learn lots of new things. We are especially excited to learn all about volcanoes in Geography this term. In Science we have started our new topic on sound and I was impressed by how much we already knew! We enjoyed getting out of the classroom to investigate where the loudest and quietest parts of the school were. We are working hard on our times tables this term and want to see our ttrockstars scores skyrocket!

Elder class have settled back into school fabulously. We have continued with our multiplication topic in Maths and the children have been very enthusiastic about their learning. In Science we have begun our new topic (Sound) and carried out an investigation around the school to find where in the school was the loudest and where was the quietest. I am looking forward to continuing to see all the amazing things we can achieve this half term!

Willow class have been engaging well this week in all of the new topics this term. The children are working hard on their interpretation skills in both Talk 4 Writing and Talk 4 Reading. They have been particularly excited in our new Design and Technology topic this term where will be creating christmas biscuits. There has been another successful week at clarinet practice, the children are working really hard, keep up the good work Willow Class.

Sequoia have had a fantastic start to the new term! We have had some incredibly thoughtful discussions about our new poem focus in Talk for Reading: The Day War Came, focussing on the topic of diversity. We have also enjoyed picking up our clarinets once again, practising so we are ready for our upcoming performance.

Acer has had a great start to this term. They have started their new unit in Talk for Writing. Little Vixen Street, and enjoyed the hook exploring articles and opinions on foxes. They have looked at how to refine searches, in computing, to find the most useful information quickly. Keep up the great work Acer!

Oak class have settled brilliantly back after returning from their half term holiday. In our Talk for Writing lessons, children enjoyed finding out about urban foxes linked to our new unit of work titled ‘Little Vixen Street’ which is a meeting tale. As a class, they discussed their view on these urban foxes. Later on in the week, Oak class enjoyed learning about a different type of a settlement: a megacity.

Using their learning from last half term, children were about to identify many megacities located within Brazil and across the world.
