Spring Term 2b week 6

It was lovely to see the children reading with their ‘Book Buddy’ this week. A great way to encourage each other to read.

In maths we started learning more about time. Some children drew the hands on a clock face to show half past and quarter past times. Other children moved on to 5 past, 10 past, quarter past, 20 past and 25 past the hour.

Also in maths we looked at subtraction using money notation. Some children used one, two or three tricky columns.

Some children moved on to Level 4 Grammar Hammer skills.

The children are working hard in their Phonics sessions with Mrs Turner All the children have made progress on their RWI Phonics Assessments. Some children have passed the Phonics Screen Test which is fantastic.

In English we practised reading some more of the text ‘Once upon a Wish’. The children imagined they were the wish giver boy and wrote a letter to the little girl who was granted her wish. The girl forgot to say thank you for her wish. This made the wishgiver sad. We hope he has better luck when he grants the next wish.

Our Star of the Week was Ryan for making good progress with reading. Well done Ryan. It has been great to hear you reading on Seesaw every night.
