#ProHumanitate: Wake Forest Men's Soccer Makes A Difference (By Stephen Czarda) Wake FOrest men's soccer was named the 2021-22 Helper Helper Team Community Service Challenge Champions. from Aug. 1, 2021-April 15, 2022, the team logged more than 950 hours of community service for 26 opportunities alongside 15 organizations.

Winning On The Field. Creating Positive Change Off It.

While Wake Forest men's soccer has won 10 more games than any other NCAA Division I program since the start of the 2015, the program made it a priority to create positive change in the local community and beyond coming out of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Wake Forest Partners With A Bed And A Book

Throughout the spring, the program spent Wednesday afternoon's patterning with A Bed and A Book to supply and build beds for children in Forsyth County.

The team was able to raise $6,000, equating to 15 beds for children in need.

Wake Forest Men's Soccer Partners With Wake Forest Baptist Health

In October, the team hosted the annual Gonna Wiley Memorial Match against Virginia Tech. Auctioning off the team's game-worn pink jerseys, $5,485 were raised to support free and reduced price mammograms for breast cancer patients in our region.

The team would win the match 3-1 against No. 5 ranked Virginia Tech.

Working with SPARK And A Wake Forest Alumnus Throughout Winston-Salem

The program worked with SPARK Executive Director and Wake Forest Alum Amber T Harris on numerous projects throughout the year including clearing a trail for the local community to walk and stay active, helping build up the Northwoods neighborhood and packing meals for those in need. 

The team also spent time working with SPARK to feed homeless residents of Winston-Salem at The Dwelling.

Wake Forest Hosts Second-Annual Goal-A-Thon

In February, the team partnered with the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC to raise more than $12,000. The money raised provides 40,000 meals to families in need of food assistance.

Working to provide meals for families for 40 years now, the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC moves more than 50 tons of food through its warehouses and out to a network of more than 430-plus partner programs to have families gain access to food.

Wake Forest Auctions Off Jerseys With Proceeds Benefitting H.O.P.E

In April, the team auctioned off its iconic black jerseys that were game-worn including the 2019 College Cup for H.O.P.E.

H.O.P.E. stands for " Help Our People Eat." Their focus is to provide a nutritious meal for families that need it the most. H.O.P.E prepares a full meal with just $1. Thanks to the team's auction, $1785 was raised and donated to this organization.

A Great Day of Work With NC Fusion

On April 6, the team traveled to Truist Sports Park to work with NC Fusion's Junior Academy Teams.

Providing fun leadership for a group of more than 150 boys and girls, the team oversaw a fun day of scrimmages.

In total, Wake Forest Men's Soccer logged more than 950 hours of community service during the 2021-22 academic year for 26 opportunities alongside these 15 organizations:

The work continues...

Wake Forest Men's Soccer returned to the community on Wednesday, April 20 to participate in the 23rd Project D.E.S.K. initiative, painting desks for children in the local community with the goal of encouraging good reading habits. On Friday, April 22, the team NC Rush for a Friday night session serving as guest coaches.
