The ITA Sophomore Player of the Year honors the sophomore student-athlete who had the best year among all student-athletes in his/her class.
After her first year at ABAC was cut short by the pandemic, Natalie Kohoutkova was determined to make the most of this season. Playing at the No. 1 spot for ABAC, Kohoutkova finished with 13-3 singles record and ranked the No. 2 player in the nation. Her success in singles was enough to earn her ITA Singles All-American status for the second time in her college career. In doubles, Kohoutkova competed primarily at the top of the lineup. She ended the season ranked No. 12 in the nation in doubles.
A Note from ABAC Women's Tennis Head Coach Dale White
Congratulations Natalie on being voted as the Junior College National Sophomore Player of the Year!
Natalie proved this year that she was one of the best players at the junior college level. After losing just twice and finishing ranked 4th in her first, shortened season at ABAC, Natalie returned with an attitude to achieve something special. Natalie finished 11-2 on the regular season in singles and entered in the national tournament as the number 3 seed. Natalie made it all the way to the final losing 6-4 6-2 and ending her sophomore year as the No. 2 ranked player in junior college. She would also finish the season as part of the 12th ranked doubles team and help ABAC to a 9th place finish at the national tournament. Natalie had a great career at ABAC and I wish her the best as she moves on to the next level.
