Lincoln at a Glance Jan 16-20

We hope everyone enjoyed 4 days off of campus, and we wanted to wish everyone a happy MLK day! It is an honor to celebrate such a momentous time and person in history. May we continue to value, recognize, and appreciate EVERY culture regardless of our differences.

“The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character–that is the goal of true education.” Martin Luther King Jr.

Housekeeping: Lost and Found

TLC called and asked if we would be on an episode of Hoarders after they saw our lost and found closet. It would be greatly appreciated if you could take some time to collect your belongings that have gone missing.

Continuing Enrollment Forms

There are several families who haven't filled out their Continuing Enrollment Forms. If you are unsure about whether or not you have completed the form, feel free to contact us. Fill out the form below.

Career Fair Volunteers Needed

March 7 is our career fair for the students and we need two types of help to make this a great experience.

First, we are calling for presenters to educate kids regarding their careers. We have identified several needs, but are willing to entertain any professions that the students may be interested in. If you are someone who is a part of the following or knows someone who may be willing to come present, these are just a few of the professions we are looking for:

Professional Chef, Electrician/Plumber/Building Trades, Mechanic Computer Programmer, Nurse, Police/Fire, Author, Animator, Cyber Security, Data Analyst.

Presenters would take 6 different groups of kids through sessions outlining how they became interested in their profession, what education/skill set is necessary to enter the profession, what the earning potential is for the profession, and what non-monetary perks are associated with that profession. Any and all demonstrations or hands-on activities the kids could do during that time would be great! The sessions run 30 min. each and will run from 8:45 am to 12:10 pm. Presenters are welcome to come to campus at 8:15 am to set up in the classroom they are assigned to. We will also be feeding you lunch.

Second, we need at least 18 parents (we’d gladly take 54) to put students through mock job interviews after lunch that day from 1:05 pm to 1:35 pm. If you could plan to be at the school at 1:15 pm, that would be great!

If you can help us out in any way or know of people who would be willing and interested in introducing our kids to the world of work, we would be most grateful! Please email either Mrs. Ungerman (ungerman@lincoln-academy.org), or Mr. Proetel (proetel@lincoln-academy.org) with your information.

Thank you so very much for all you do to make education meaningful for our students!

Field Trip Drivers Needed

We have upcoming Junior Achievement and Super I-Excel Field trips happening soon and need to start planning for parent drivers to help with the events.

If you can be available for Junior Achievement on February 2nd from 8:15am to 2:00pm or for Super I-Excel Jan 26th from 9:00am to 11:00am to drive it would be greatly appreciated.

Email Stephanie Falcon if you are able to help. falcon@lincoln-academy.org

Library mural design challenge and Battle of the Books

To parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents, children…. anyone with artistic talent: We are planning to paint our library and change it from a dull taupe to a fun welcoming space.

We would love for you to enter your mural idea. The artwork will be judged by a committee and the winner will be selected to have their art painted onto the walls of the library. We are so excited for this change.

Thank you to anyone who participates!

Please submit your entries to Katherine Jones in the library or emailed to kjones@lincoln-academy.org

Missoula Children's Theatre Production: Frog Prince

Save the Date for March 6-11

It's that time of year again...Missoula Children's Theater will be bringing The Frog Prince to Lincoln Academy for all K-6th grade. In just 6 days, students will audition and learn everything they need to perform in front of family and friends at the end of the week.

Those interested will audition on Monday, March 6 after school. For auditions, nothing needs to be prepared, just bring your confidence and smile. If cast, the participation fee is $50 per student. All rehearsals will occur after school at Lincoln Academy. There will be 2 performances on Saturday, March 11. Please note: Anyone interested needs to make the week of March 6-11 their top priority for rehearsals.

This is a wonderful opportunity for our students and Lincoln community.

A huge thank you for reading the newsletter and staying up-to-date on important things happening at Lincoln. Have a great week and see you next time!
