Principal's Message

Today we celebrate Schools Tree Day and take another step in the greening of our school and surrounding community. There has been an air of excitement in the lead up to Australia’s largest tree planting and nature care event as students, staff and parents have prepared ground and plants.

Partnering with Wahroonga Waterways students have got their hands dirty as they planted natives endemic to the area in Coups Creek – a wonderful way to give back to community. Within our school grounds edible, native and scented plants have been added to existing beds and new spaces planted. The positive impact on the physical environment and the wellbeing of our community will continue to grow as students care for the plants and learn about sustainability and create a greener, cooler and more liveable future.

On another note, literally, the Secondary Creative and Performing Arts Showcase this week was an absolute treat to the senses. Celebrating our first ever 7-12 Music and Art Performance, the quality of our students’ performances was inspiring, and I thank the Creative Arts Teachers and tutors for their encouragement of students to develop their music and visual art talents.

There are several opportunities for school families to connect this term through Home and School sponsored events from ice skating to a working bee as well as a parent masterclass with Luke S. Kennedy. I encourage you to join the team of parents who are passionate about our school community.

Finally, save the date of September 17 as you are invited to our Wahroonga School Alumni Homecoming. It will be a morning of celebrating God’s leading in our school since its establishment in 1905, followed by a lunch and opportunity to view learning spaces.

God bless.

Mrs Julia Heise - Principal

National Tree Day

Planet Ark's National Tree Day started in 1996 and has grown into Australia's largest community tree planting and nature care event. National Tree Day is Sunday July 31 and Schools Tree Day is today, July 29.

Schools Tree Day (Australia's largest tree planting event!) is our day to meaningfully connect with our local community while caring for nature and the school environment. We are so proud of our students who helped plant trees and shrubs at Coups Creek and our school campus alongside our Wahroonga Waterways Landcare leaders. Individual actions like these, no matter how small, help to create a better future for us all. Thank you to everyone who gave your time and effort!
