Rising Action - Percy is notified by his friend Grover that they have to go to a special camp for people just like Percy. While on there way, they run into a Minotaur and Percy's mother is taken to the underworld. Percy is told that he is a Demi-God and that no one knows who his father is. Percy's teacher, Chiron, shows him around the camp but he still doesn't seem to feel at home. For some strange reason, people are starting to blame Percy for stealing the Lightning bolt.

Climax - Percy has this feeling that he is able to save his mother. Grover and Annabeth decide to come with him since it is far too dangerous to do alone. He decides to go to Luke for help. Luke tells him that he needs to go to the underworld but he will have to find three stones so that he can get back to camp. Luke gives Percy a map that reveals the three stones locations. The first stone is in a greenery. The second stone is in a museum. The final stone is in a casino.

Falling Action - Percy runs into suppose unexpected problems with the quests. When he tries to get the first stone, he soon realizes that it is in Medusas lair. Annabeth is almost killed in the process by Medusa. Percy killed Medusa by letting her see her reflection. In the second quest, they reach the museum, but when it turns to night time, the janitors turn into three headed dragons. Percy, Grover and Annabeth have to fight them off and eventually the dragons are frozen by Medusas head. In the third quest, they get trapped in a casino because of the food that the waitresses provide. The food is called lotuses. These lotuses make them lose track of time and make them stay in the casino for longer than they intend.

Resolution - Percy finds Luke at the top of a building with the lightning bolt. The two Demi-gods fight until Percy wins. Percy uses his new found powers with water to take down Luke. Percy reaches Olympus and sees his father for the first time. He gives Zues the bolt and he is forgiven when tells them that it was Luke all along.
