Plunkett Post Term 1 Week 4 2023

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Students are well settled into their classes now. It is great to see so many happy faces at school.

School Uniforms: Please ensure your child is wearing a school hat to school each day. It is important for all students to wear hats at school, before and after school and during breaks. While students without hats must sit in the shade during breaks it is important that they have a hat to wear during class sport and fitness activities. Please make sure your child’s name is in their hat so we can return it to them if it is misplaced. Hats are available to purchase from the Uniform shop and each office (cash only).

It is also important that students wear appropriate footwear to school each day. Students need to wear covered shoes. These should ideally be school shoes or joggers as they allow students to be able to run and play sports safely.

Communication With Parents: This year we have moved to a new Third Party software program to manage student enrolments, attendance and payments. This program includes a parent portal.

We are still working to fully implement the software for office staff and teachers and once it is working at full capacity, we will communicate with you the instructions needed to access and use the portal. We will be able to send messages directly to you through the parent portal. You will also be able to send messages directly to teachers as well.

Until then, we ask that if you need to contact your child’s teacher to do so in the following ways: Email - write an email to nowra-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au and the office will forward it to your child’s teacher. In the subject line please write the teacher’s name so it can be forwarded promptly to the right staff member.

Phone - please call the appropriate office (Primary 4422 0401 or Infants 4422 0414) to leave a message. Office staff will then forward the message to the teacher.

Teachers will not return calls or answer emails during the school day, unless they are on their scheduled release from class. A teacher’s first task is to teach, and I expect all teachers to be focused on their role of educating your children during class time. This will also be the case once our new parent portal is operating.

We will NOT be using Seesaw as a means of communication between parents and teachers.

Money at school: While we know our Primary students often have money to make purchases at the school canteen, we ask that students do not bring large amounts of money to school. Recently, we have had several students bringing large amounts of money to school. The school is not responsible if large amounts of money are brought to school and subsequently lost.

COVID: If your child tests positive to COVID they must stay home until symptom free. This helps to keep us all safe. Contact the school to let us know your child is sick.

Kind Regards,

Nicole Humphreys
