News from the Front Office:

Reporting Student Absences

Parents can report their student's absences by calling the Riffenburgh Attendance Line 970-488-7936 or via ParentVUE (see instructions below)

Please let the Attendance Office know about ALL absences even if you have alerted the Classroom Teacher.

The following are important times to note:

  • 7:40 am Cafeteria opens for Breakfast (Please do not send students to school prior to 7:40 am)
  • 7:45 am Supervision on Campus Starts (If student is not eating breakfast, this is when drop off begins
  • 8:00 am Classroom Doors Open
  • 8:05 am Official Start Time, Learning for the Day Officially Begins

*If you arrive after 8:05am, please come to the front office entry to sign in your student and to choose school lunch (if wanted).

Change in Dismissal Plans

Please call the front office by 1:00 PM if there is a change during the school day and you need to communicate it to your child. Our teachers aren't always able to check email or voicemail during the day and so communicating it to the office assures that your child gets the message. We ask that you do this before 1:00pm as the end of the day gets busy in the office.

Classroom Treats

If it is necessary to have food in classrooms during school hours (i.e. birthday snack, holidays, special occasions, school events, etc.), only commercially prepared foods and packaged foods from retail stores should be served. Items must be commercially individually wrapped. As always, please contact your child's teacher prior to sending food or treats in.

Volunteering at Riffenburgh

If you plan on Volunteering at Riffenburgh, you must register or check that your status is current with Poudre School District (PSD) thru the following portal (renewals are every 3 years) before you come to school.

** Please remember to bring a Government Issued Identification (Driver’s License) (DIGITAL IDs are not accepted) to school when you check in in as a Visitor or Volunteer. This is a requirement for the Check In process. **

News from Health Office

No Cough Drops in School: Students are not to carry cough drops in their back packs for use during the school day. If cough drops are required, there is a Medication Authorization form from the Health Room that must be completed for any medication to be given at school (prescription or over the counter). This form needs to be filled out and signed by the Health Care Provider and then signed by the Parent and returned to the health room with the cough drops in their original package. Once this process is complete, the student can come to the Health Room and the Health Room Tech will give them a cough drop. Mints/candies are an alternative for dry throats that can be carried by the student so they can use as they need.

Support Students Experiencing Homelessness

The number of PSD families and youth experiencing homelessness has risen by 10% since last year, and their needs have risen exponentially. Currently, one out of every 27 students is experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity in our district. Students experiencing homelessness encounter many barriers to their education. Our department works to help youth and families overcome these barriers, including transportation, access to extracurricular activities, before and after-school care, and meeting basic needs. We do this along with case-management to help them reach independence. Your generous donation allows the Language, Culture and Equity Department to support these students and families with personal items, temporary shelter, provisions, clothing, etc. The need has never been greater. Please help us reach our goal of raising $40,000 to support PSD students and families facing housing insecurity and homelessness. *All donations are tax deductible, and an automated email will provide you with your tax receipt. Thank you for all you do to support our most vulnerable students. With much gratitude, David Autenrieth
