Brisbane Community Pool Reopening Notice & Information
We are excited to announce that we will be resuming adult lap swim and water aerobics starting Monday, July 27th. Lap Swim will be offered Monday-Friday only during the times of 8:00am-2:00pm and Water Aerobics will be offered M/W/F from 10:00-10:45am at the Brisbane Community Pool, located at 2 Solano St. *Please note that there will be no lap swim available during the hours of Water Aerobics.
Given the challenges presented by COVID-19, we have adopted new protocols and procedures for our operations. All pool patrons will be required to reserve their swim times online in advance as no transactions will be processed onsite. Lane reservations will be available in 45 minute time slots to allow 15 minutes for staff to clear the pool/deck and sanitize before the next wave of patrons arrive. Only one swimmer will be allowed per lane for lap swimming purposes in order to maintain proper distancing. All patrons using our pool during this time will be required to sign a liability waiver and acknowledgement of risk online as part of the reservation/registration process. A copy of this acknowledgement will be posted at the pool for reference.
Click here to view the Community Pool webpage where you will find more information and be able to reserve your lane!
It’s Time to Complete the 2020 Census!
Did you know that California could lose up to $1,000 in federal funds for each person not counted in the 2020 Census, every year for the next DECADE? That amounts to $10,000 per person!
Starting next month, Census enumerators will begin visiting households that have not yet completed their 2020 Census. To avoid getting a knock on your door, head to my2020census.gov and take 10 minutes to fill it out. The Census questionnaire should be completed by the person who owns or rents the living quarters or any other person who is at least 15 years of age with knowledge of the household. Note: you can also complete the Census over the phone by calling 1-844-330-2020. If you have a preferred language, visit www.2020census.gov and type “responding by phone” in the Search box. (For further language support, visit 2020census.gov/en/languages). To respond to the Census by mail, mail back the paper questionnaire sent to your home. For questions about the Census Bureau, surveys, data products, or general information, call the Census Bureau Customer Service Center at 1-800-923-8282. Together, we can ensure an accurate count for Brisbane, and meet our 2010 response rate of 77.1%...at the time of publication, we were just 3% away! Let’s do this, Brisbane!

Water Main Replacement Project Update
Earlier this week, the Water Main Replacement Project moved down to Margaret after work on Paul finished up (and over 500' of pipe had been installed since last Thursday)! Temporary paving will follow by next Thursday. Daily updates for residents are being provided on the notice board located at Margaret & Kings. Thank you to everyone who has been adhering to the No Parking notices so that the crew's able to work as quickly as possible - they were able to shave off a day as a direct result! To learn more about this project to update the City's aging drinking water infrastructure and increase fire flow capacity, please view the Story Map. Please continue to place your trash and recycling carts out by 5am on garbage day, as SSF Scavenger's trucks will be coming through early to accommodate the project crew. The City is also in contact with delivery services such as UPS and FedEx, and they are aware of the project and will work around the project hours to get you your deliveries.

Youth Leadership Institute Anthology: Reflecting on Mental Health
The Youth Leadership Institute, in partnership with San Mateo County Behavioral Health and Recovery Services, is hoping to change the narrative around mental health by collecting stories, poetry, mini-autobiographies, interviews, and artwork centered around what it means to understand your mental health. The goal of the anthology is to highlight the mental health experiences of all people in San Mateo County, especially highlighting transition-aged youth (15 - 25), and make space for people to share their stories about mental health in order to break down stigmas around mental health and increase access to services.

All Picnic Areas and Playgrounds Remain Closed
In an attempt to support mitigation efforts and the spread of the virus, all picnic areas and playgrounds remain closed. We understand the importance of doing our part to prevent further spread of the virus and as such, continue to discourage gatherings of non-family units. We understand the desire for residents to partake in outdoor recreational opportunities (especially as we enjoy warmer weather) but we ask for your cooperation and understanding during this time. The skate park, basketball courts, tennis courts, dog park, our trails, and open spaces are accessible to residents practicing physical distancing (please also have your face covering). We are monitoring the situation closely and will continue to work with neighboring agencies to ensure the health, safety, and welfare of county residents.

Low-Income Caltrain Riders Can Start Saving with Clipper START
As Caltrain ridership slowly climbs back from the steep decline caused by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the new Clipper START program will allow adults age 19-64, who are lower-income, to receive fare discounts on select transit services around the region. Clipper START offers eligible Caltrain riders a 50 percent discount, which the agency recently increased following the economic fallout resulting from COVID-19.
Clipper START is an 18-month pilot program initiated by Bay Area transit agencies and the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) that uses the Clipper transit fare payment system to reduce the cost of transportation for adults whose household incomes are no more than twice the federal poverty level (for example, $52,400 for a family of four). This can be an important benefit, as transportation costs are a significant burden on many households, particularly during the current economic climate.
Anyone interested in Clipper START can learn more about the program and apply online. The website explains the application process, required documentation and allows applicants to save their progress and return later to complete the process. To learn more about the program and apply, visit www.clipperstartcard.com.
