The Company
Doughbies is an on-demand logistics service which delivers freshly baked treats in under 20 minutes. The instant gratification involved makes it a great way to treat for yourself or a great way to treat a loved one.
The Position
At Doughbies, I hold the position of Marketing and Operations. In the Marketing department, I am solely responsible for our social influencer outreach program and partially responsible for the implementation of growth hacking tactics. On the Operations side, I oversee warehouse inventory and make sure our delivery drivers and couriers have everything they need to reinforce the Doughbies brand.
The Brand
Doughbies strives to be just like your favorite neighborhood bakery, but a little more convenient. This means that, overall, we are a "love" brand and everything we do with marketing needs to seem authentic and non-invasive.
Influencer Marketing
With our outreach program, my job is to source, vet, document, and reach out to individuals with social influence. The idea behind this is that instead of paying hundreds for an Instagram ad campaign, we can get the same reach by having these individuals post our products. It's a mutually beneficial arrangement.
The photo seen here was posted by Heather Day, an artist with 63,200 Instagram followers. We supplied her with a plethora of products as well as a specific promo code that she could share with her followers. This promo code can be redeemed for a free box of cookies, and helps us quantify her influence.
Overview
Overall, my experience with Doughbies has been great. Being a part of the on-demand economy has given me excellent time management skills, and seeing the day-to-day operations of an up-and-coming startup have taught me a lot. In addition, helping grow and develop a newer brand has taught me the importance of a brand's voice and aesthetic.
I would love to continue working for and growing with the Doughbies team, and I hope they are as fond of me as I am of them.
