TEXAS STATE WOMEN'S BASKETBALL 2016-17 NONCONFERENCE SEASON REVIEW

Texas State opened the 2016-17 campaign at SMU. Despite a 12-point performance from Toshua Leavitt, the Bobcats fell by a 64-56 margin.

Whitney Apari led TXST to a 67-50 win over Incarnate Word with a career-high 16 points.

Toshua Leavitt dropped a season-high 16 points, which included four 3-pointers, to push the Bobcats past Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 57-50.

Texas Southern defeated the Bobcats by a 66-53 final.

Texas State defeated Houston 61-56 behind a career day from Amber Jones. The redshirt junior forward set career highs in points (15), field goals made (6).

Texas State fell 72-47 at UTSA. Taeler Deer scored 12 points and came away with a career-high five steals.

THE BOBCATS FELL AT NO. 3 BAYLOR

Taeler Deer led the Bobcats in scoring with 10 points, marking her fourth double-digit scoring game of the season.

Freshmen guards Bailey and Brooke Holle earned their first collegiate starts against the Lady Bears.

Texas State suffered a 65-51 setback to St. Edward's.

Taeler Deer's season-high 24 point performance would not be enough to lift the Bobcats past Prairie View A&M as the Panthers used a fourth quarter rally to close out a 64-60 win.

Texas State defeated Sam Houston State 69-46

Taeler Deer scored a team-high 15 points to lead the Bobcats in scoring for the sixth time.

Texas State set 30 team and individual season highs against Sam Houston State.

Redshirt senior and career 1,000-point scorer Erin Peoples made her season debut at North Texas after missing all of last season and the first 10 games on 2016-17 with an injury.

Texas State closed the nonconference portion of its schedule with a 59-58 win at North Texas.

Texas State finished its nonconference slate 5-6, including 3-2 at home. Taeler Deer led the Bobcats in scoring at 9.3 points per game, while Ericka May was the top rebounder at 5.1 per outing.
