Background in Education
I am an elementary school teacher and have taught in pre-kindergarten and kindergarten classrooms. I have been teaching since 2015 and most of my experience has been in the special education setting. I began as a pre-kindergarten special education teacher. I taught kindergarten in a general education setting for three years before returning to the special education setting in 2022. I love to provide my students with learning experiences that allow them to learn through exploration and encourage them to create.
Integration of Creativity
Reflection
- Sequencing and Scaffolding Creativity - As an early elementary teacher, I am teaching students many foundational skill. This includes teaching them to think creatively and even how to use technology. This module of the course makes it easy for me to visualize scaffolding assignments in my class to build creativity and to integrate technology such as Adobe.
2. Foster Diversity and Inclusion - This module was important to me as a special education teacher. I am always aiming to guide students to know and love who they are. I also believe that providing students with multiple means of expression is critical in ensuring that students are able to access the curriculum and demonstrate understanding.
3. Share Student Creativity - In my experience as a teacher, I have seen the change in attitudes towards assignments when students are provided an opportunity to share. This module gave me ideas for sharing student work. I love the idea of developing a portfolio. Even at a young age, I believe that it is critical to teach students to formally share their creations.

Identifying Shapes All Around You
In my special needs kindergarten classroom, students learn about shapes and are often required to identify shapes in their environment. This activity will allow student to use their photography skills to capture images of shapes around them and place them into a poster to share with others.
