Wilson ITA National Coach of the Year
Eddy Shigley from Indiana Wesleyan University has been named the 2022 Wilson ITA National Coach of the Year.
When Coach Shigley took over the men's program at Indiana Wesleyan, the team was not even in the top 50 programs in NAIA tennis and now they are a respected powerhouse. They ended the season ranked No. 3 in the nation.
In 2022, under Shigley's guidance, Indiana Wesleyan finished the season with a 21-5 spring season record and a Semifinal finish in the NAIA National Championship.
Coach Shigley has won the Crossroads League Coach of the Year honors all 5 years. He was named the ITA/Wilson Women's Coach of the Year for 2021. He teaches tennis clinics and camps each year to elementary age, middle school, and high school students.
A Letter From Athletic Director Deane Webb
It has been an outstanding season, a season that is a culmination of many years of incredible work.
The growth that has happened in our tennis programs has been absolutely incredible. The wins, the records, and the rankings have set new marks in our program that will challenge all future teams.
What has been even more impressive to me, and this is evident the moment I talk to his players, is the manner with which he has coached his teams. He is viewed as a father figure by his players, and has truly gone the extra mile to impact their lives.
All of us at IWU, from players to coaches and administrators in the department, extend our sincere congratulations to Coach Shigley for this prestigious award!
