Content Info For The Week
Math (Carver, Beasley, and Meeks):
Students will continue working with slope. They will begin graphing linear functions as well as manipulating equations to graph linear functions.
Monday they will have a quiz over slope.
Homework will be due on Friday!
Algebra I (Meeks):
Students will review system of equations, system of inequalities, as well as begin constructing graphs provided information such as distance and time.
Monday the will have a quiz over relations that includes domain and range of those relations.
Homework will be due on Friday!
Read 180 (Styron and Barker):
This week in R180 students will read the fantasy genre excerpt from the story The Last Day of Summer by Lamar Giles. Using the story as a guide students will analyze how a particular scene develops the setting in a story, describe how characters respond or change as the plot moves forward toward a resolution, analyze how a particular scene develops the plot in a story, use clues in the text as a strategy to determine the meaning of words and phrases, and lastly analyze how particular sentences, chapters, or scenes of text fit into the overall structure and contribute to the development of the plot.

This week in Mr. MacArthur's class, students will begin working on identifying an author's purpose and point of view. Students will look at what kinds of texts authors write, and the motivation behind them.
This week in Mrs. Lee's class, we will continue preparing to read our next in-class novel, Hidden Figures. We will focus on text structure and differences/similarities between a narrative and a non-fiction book.
9th Grade Lit (Lee):
This week, students will continue reading To Kill a Mockingbird. We will closely analyze the testimonies of key characters, focusing on what direct/indirect characterization and other plot elements can be determined by their words. We will have a quiz over Chapters 16-20 on Friday, January 28.
Science (Winkworth and Herndon):
The students will develop an understanding of wave properties and classification. The purpose is for students to learn the differences between electromagnetic and mechanical waves. Students will use graphs, data, models, and scenarios to determine the properties and classification of waves. They will understand how changes in amplitude and frequency affect changes in energy.
Social Studies (MacArthur and Collier):
This week in Social Studies, students will begin to explore Georgia in the early 20th. This includes Georgia's involvement in World War I, the Great Depression, and the New Deal.
Look what we have been up to!
