Women's Lacrosse Advances to NESCAC Semifinals
Capping the regular season Wednesday night with an 18-5 win at Bates, the Mules set their sights on a familiar target for the first round of the NESCAC tournament. Colby welcomed Bowdoin back to Mayflower Hill Saturday afternoon.
The Mules held an 8-3 lead after one quarter and extended the margin to 15-8 at the break, cruising to a 20-3 quarterfinal win. With eight goals against the Bobcats and four more against Bowdoin, Annie Eddy now sits atop the NESCAC leaders with 54 goals on the season.
Colby is 14-2 on the season, ranked #3 across all of Division III. The Mules travel to Middlebury for the semifinal round where they will take on the Jumbos of Tufts University Saturday at 3:00pm. The link to stream the game is below.
Baseball Celebrates Senior Day by Sweeping Trinity, Securing a Home Playoff Series
Heading into the weekend, Colby had a chance to stay at home for the first round of the conference tournament. If the Mules took two-of-three games against the Bantams, Colby would play on Coombs field the following weekend. The Mules didn't stop at just two wins, collecting victories in all three to solidify a home playoff game.
Setting the tone for the weekend was the first game of the set. 1B Drew Miller hit a home run in the second inning to tie the game at one, where the score would remain until the bottom of the ninth. With one out in the frame, Miller laced a single that plated Brady O'Brien for the walk-off.
Colby maintained its momentum through the next two games (winning 9-6, 14-7), sweeping the Bantams.
Colby is now 20-11 on the season, entering the NESCAC playoffs as the #2-seed in the East Division. The Mules will host the quarterfinal round Saturday and Sunday for a best-of-three series, with their opponent to be announced after the completion of Monday's conference games. The winner of the series advances to the semifinals the following weekend, hosted by Trinity College.
Softball Headed to NESCAC Tournament, First Time Since 2003
Closing out the regular season with a three-game series in Hartford, whomever won two-out-of-three would be positioned second in the NESCAC-East Division, with the other slotting in at the third seed.
The Bantams edged Colby in the first two contests (5-2, 6-5) deciding the standings entering the postseason, but the Mules weren't leaving town before leaving a mark.
In the third game, Colby erupted for 15 hits and 14 runs. Ashley Ketchum, Chloe Wilcox, and Abby Orso each connected with three hits, capped by Orso's grand slam in the top of the fourth. Orso also went the distance in the circle for the shutout, allowing two hits while striking out five.
Colby is 19-14 on the season, on the verge of the impressive 20-win mark. The Mules travel to Tufts University Saturday for their Quarterfinal matchup with Middlebury College in the single elimination tournament.
Track & Field Battle at NESCAC Championships
The Colby Track & Field team traveled to Hamilton College for the NESCAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Missing several key performers due to illness, the Mules still garnered impressive individual results.
Senior Tanner Burton won the 110m Hurdles, claiming the crown of NESCAC champion by setting a NESCAC Meet record. He was joined by teammates Ren Zanze, Peter Martel, and Matt Long in the 4x100 Relay to bring home another conference title.

Men's Lacrosse Upends Bates 22-8 in Season Finale
The Mules were spirited on Seaverns Field for the final game of the 2022 season. Scoring the first eight goals of the contest, the Mules didn't look back.
After the Bobcats narrowed the gap to 9-5 at halftime, Colby took off on another run, this time for six unanswered, before closing out the game with five straight scores.
The Mules end their season with a 6-7 record, just missing the NESCAC playoffs.
Golf Competes at NESCAC Championship
The Golf team took to the links in Clinton, N.Y. this weekend for the NESCAC Golf Championship. The Mules made headway this fall with a valuable competition season, but against the top in the conference Colby came in 10th.
Ryan Santoro was Colby's leader, shooting a two-day total of 169, good for 41st. Jacob Tezler (photo left) was the top performer on Day 2, coming in 31st for the day with an 81.
Crew Steady at New England Rowing Championships
The Mules battled strong in all boats this weekend in Worcester for the New England Rowing Championships. The Men's Varsity 4 took home bronze medals out of the nine competing teams to lead the way for Colby.
The Women's Varsity 8 (photo left) came in second in the third final, outpacing NESCAC rivals Amherst, Bowdoin, and Conn. The W3V8 and M2V4 boats also had stellar days, finishing 4th and 5th respectively.
The Mules head back to Worcester next weekend for the National Invitational Rowing Championships, also counted as the NESCAC Championship.
Tennis Finishes Regular Season, Prepares for Conference Tourney
Narrowing in on the NESCAC tournament this coming weekend, Colby closed out its regular season matches traveling to Middlebury and Williams, the second and third-ranked programs in the Northeast.
Sam Riordan earned the lone win from the 1-spot for the Mules on the women's side against Middlebury, while Kat Dougherty earned the point Sunday against Williams. Colby fell in both matches 8-1.
For the men, Sam Henry and Max Schuermann teamed up to steal a point in doubles against Middlebury. The Mules fell 8-1 and 9-0 on the weekend.
Colby looks to get a handful of key players back into the lineup Friday when they open tournament play with the men taking on Tufts University and the women facing off once more against the Panthers from Middlebury.
