the joy of Golden Gate Park By Erica Becker 2022

Growing up one block away from Golden Gate Park was a blessing that I did not know I had until I moved away from it. In this photo story I wanted to share the quiet side of the park that I enjoyed and the how the local residents enjoy the park on a weekday. My childhood memories still linger whenever I visit and I enjoy the peace, quiet, and beauty it still provides to this day.

"The past is everywhere. All around us lie features which, like ourselves and our thoughts, have more or less recognizable antecedents. Relics, histories, memories suffuse human experience...Whether it is celebrated or rejected, attended to or ignored, the past is omnipresent." - David Lowenthal, The Past is a Foreign Country

In memory of my mother, Toshiko Watanabe, who took me to the duck ponds in the park on Sundays. Those are some of my favorite memories. Thank you Mom.
