Geologic Time Scale

Cenozoic( Quarternary 1.8- present) Mammals that lived during this time period faced a changing envirnment. Earth cooled which caused a lot of ice ages and ghe majority of the water froze.

Cenzozoic( Tertiary 65-1.8) The ancestors of mammals of the therapids had been evolving into a broad range of ecological since the Permian period

Mesozoic( Cretaceous 145-63) Reptiles were still dominat vertebrates, throughout this time period. Dinosaurs such as the t-Rex dominated land ecosystems. They were later extinct. :)))

Mesozoic( Jurassic 208-145) At this time period Dinasours were the dominant animals on land. Dinasours ruled the Earth for about 150 million years but different types of Dinasours lived at different times. Scientist believe that birds are related to Dinasours. The first Dinasour birds started to appear.

Mesozoic( Triassic 245-208) Those organisms that survived the Permian mass extinction became the main forms of life early in the Triassic time period. Some of the important organisms that survived were fishes, insects, reptiles, and cone bearing pant. This period is often called "Age of Reptiles" because of the success that the reptiles had.

Paleozoic( Permain 290-245) Winged insects evolved into many different forms including dragonflies. Other reptiles soon evolved to different types of amphibians.

Paleozoic( Carbonfierous 360-290) Other groups of vertebrates evolved such as reptiles into certain amphibians. Giant ferns and other plants formed vast swampy forests. The remains of those accent plants formed thick deposits of sediment that later changed Ito coal over millions of years which gave the Carbonferious its name.

Paleozoic( Devonian 410-360) Plants and ferns adapted to their areas allowing them to immune to their habitats. This time period is often called "Age of Fishes" because many groups of fishes were present in the oceans. Most fishes of this time had jaws, bony skeletons, and scales on their bodies. Sharks appeared late in this period.

Paleozoic( Silurain 440-410) First vertebrates to appear such as jawless fishes. The first land plants evolved from aquatic ancestors.

Paleozoic( Ordovician 505-440) The octopi and squid appeared during this time period, as did different types of amphibians.

Paleozoic( Cambrian 544-505) Paleantologoist call the diversification of life during this time period the "Cambrian" explosion. Many organisms had shells or skeletons.

Precambrian Time ( Vendian 650-544) 90% of Earths history accuses during this time period. During this time anaorbic forms of life appeared on Earths surface, they were also photosynthetic forms which added oxygen to the atmosphere.
