Mother's Day Breakfast

It was wonderful to celebrate our Anzac Park mothers at our P&C Mother's Day Breakfast. A big thanks to the P&C team for coordinating this wonderful community celebration!

Mountain Top 2022 - A STEAM Showcase

This term for Mountain Top we will be showcasing STEAM and deep learning across Kindergarten to Year 6. This learning focuses on equipping and inspiring students with the skills to become the problem finders and solvers of the future. STEAM, a pedagogical approach that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics allows teachers to use access points for guiding student inquiry, dialogue, and divergent thinking through integrated conceptual units of work. Teachers also enable students to develop global competencies to become creative, critical and collaborative individuals who can adapt and feel fulfilled in a changing world. In Science this term, all students have been participating in inquiry based learning that embeds explicit STEAM based skills. Here you can see Year 3 working on Coding & Robotics skills using LEGO Spike Essential Kits. Year 3 students have been investigating a range of advanced farming technologies and modelling these technologies using the LEGO Kits. We can’t wait to share more with you on our Mountain Top evening.

Has your child been late to school this term?

At Anzac Park, school attendance is important. Unfortunately, each day we see a large number of children arriving at school after 9am. When your child arrives after 9am, they miss an important part of their school day. In the majority of our learning hubs, children will start the school day with a focus on reading and writing. Minutes lost can equal days lost per year which can unfortunately impact your child's progress in literacy. As a school community, let's all try to get every child to school on time every day!

Anaphylaxis Reminder – Please ensure NO nuts or nut products are brought to school

All families are asked to assist the children in our school who are anaphylactic or have severe allergies. This is potentially a life threatening condition. Please do not send any of the following foods with your child whilst they are at school:

  • Muesli bars containing nuts or any other foods containing nuts
  • Peanuts and other nuts including cashews, hazelnuts, walnuts, pistachios, macadamia, brazil nuts
  • Peanut Butter or Nutella

Let’s all label our clothes with names

Let’s work together as a whole school to manage lost property.

  • Label every piece of your child’s school uniform clearly with their name – especially hats and jackets.
  • Remind your child about the importance of putting their clothing in their bag if they take it off.
  • If your child comes home with an item of clothing which does not belong to them, please return it to school with a note so that it can be returned to its rightful owner.

COVID-smart settings in Term 2

As the new term gets underway, it's important for all of our community to be aware of our COVID-smart settings. These have been developed in consultation with NSW Health and are aligned to the NSW Government’s general community settings. Many of our existing COVID-smart measures continue into Term 2, including:

  • rapid antigen testing for symptomatic students and staff
  • vaccinations – including booster shots (from 3 months after your child’s primary COVID-19 dose) are encouraged for all eligible students and their families.
  • ventilation
  • good hygiene practices
  • enhanced cleaning
  • Rapid Antigen Tests (RATs) – which the department will continue to supply to students and staff in Term 2 to support symptomatic testing and testing of close contacts returning to school.
Change to close contact isolation requirements - students and staff who are identified as close contacts will be able to attend school with certain risk mitigations in place including daily RAT tests.

Spotlight on Indigo

In Term 2 in Indigo we have been exploring design and production. This is part of our Cause & Effect Inquiry unit during which we are working on the core competency skill of collaboration. We have been excited to use our new LEGO Education Spike kits to build versions of traditional agricultural inventions. These lessons allow us to explore our creativity and develop our coding skills. We are looking forward to designing, building and coding a machine to come up with a solution to a problem in traditional agriculture such as safety during fruit and vegetable harvesting!

Congratulations to our Silver & Gold Award Recipients!
