SEVENTEEN SCHOOLS EARNED A SCHOOL PERFORMANCE GRADE OF AN A -- AN ALL-TIME HIGH FOR UCPS SINCE THE SCHOOL PERFORMANCE GRADES MODEL BEGAN. ADDITIONALLY, 18 SCHOOLS EARNED A SCHOOL PERFORMANCE GRADE OF B.

10 SCHOOLS IMPROVED ONE LETTER GRADE AS COMPARED TO THE PREVIOUS SCHOOL YEAR. IN TOTAL, 90 PERCENT OF UCPS SCHOOLS THAT RECEIVED SCHOOL PERFORMANCE GRADES EARNED A LETTER GRADE OF C OR HIGHER.

FOR THE SECOND CONSECUTIVE YEAR, NO SCHOOL EARNED A SCHOOL PERFORMANCE GRADE OF AN F.

DURING THE 2018-19 SCHOOL YEAR, 23 SCHOOLS EXCEEDED GROWTH -- THE HIGHEST NUMBER IN THE LAST FIVE YEARS. OVERALL, 43 SCHOOLS MET OR EXCEEDED GROWTH DURING THE 2018-19 SCHOOL YEAR.

East Elementary and Benton Heights Elementary exceeded growth and exited low-performing status.

Fifth grade science proficiency rates increased 8.2 percentage points while eighth grade science proficiency rates increased 4.8 percentage points.

ucps outperformed nc's 12 largest school systems in the following:

Highest percentage of students meeting Career and College Ready and Grade Level Proficiency on state-administered assessments.

Highest percentage of students meeting Career and College Ready and Grade Level Proficiency on 3rd - 8th grade reading and math, 5th and 8th grade science, and high school end of course assessments.

All measures in 6th - 8th grade Career and College Ready and Grade Level Proficiency across every subject area with the exception of eighth grade science.

In total, UCPS outperformed the state's 12 largest school systems on 44 out of 51 indicators as measured by the state of North Carolina

UCPS has a 93 percent graduation rate, up from 92.6 percent in 2018.

Nine out of 12 comprehensive high schools earned a graduation rate of 90 percent or higher. Central Academy of Technology and Arts and Union County Early College both earned a 100 percent graduation rate.
