Success for All!
Pie in your face fundraiser

Forest Park EXCEEDS their Terry Fox Fundraising goal! The school and community raised more than $700 during their toonie for Terry campaign. Way to go Forest Park!

The students were very excited to be able to make such a substantial donation. They were also excited to get the opportunity to throw a whipping cream pie at some of the staff (because they exceeded the $500 fundraising goal). Thank you Ms. Behn, Ms. McDougal, Ms. Davidson, Ms. MacKinnon, Ms. Clackson and Mr. Dean for being good sports.

Discover how we can make all the difference

In the spring, staff at the District Administration Centre created a Canada Blood Services team #NANA0102655. With the need for blood donations on the rise, we would like to extend the opportunity for all staff to join the team. Detailed instructions for how to join the team are in the image below. Once registered, you can book your next appointment with the team or individually.

Did you know that 50% of Canadians will need blood or know someone who needs blood at some point in their lives? Yet only 4% of Canadians who are eligible to donate actually donate blood. As Canada’s Lifeline, we all offer a part of ourselves, building and expanding the most powerful human connections. In doing so, we prove that, together, we don’t just make a difference. We make all the difference.

Field to Fork Challenge

Grade 4-12 students are invited to submit BC grown recipes and cooking demo videos for this year's Field to Fork Challenge. The Field to Fork Challenge is hosted by BC Agriculture in the Classroom Foundation, 4-H British Columbia, the Youth Development Team from the BC Ministry of Agriculture and Food with partnership of Buy BC and support of Save-On-Foods. Participants have a chance to win prizes (totally $6,400), get their recipes published and attend a fun and educational conference. Entries close November 9, 2022.

Flu vaccine clinics

Historically, the school district hosted flu vaccine clinics at various schools for staff. This year, due to pharmacist and nurse staffing restraints, we are not able to provide this service. Additionally, this year the government of BC has made flu vaccinations free of charge.

For staff wanting the flu shot, vaccinations will be available through local pharmacies (Rexall, Shoppers, Medicine Shoppe, etc.), some doctors’ offices, or by registering and booking an appointment through the Get Vaccinated system. Flu shots can also be obtained at the same time and location as you receive your COVID 19 booster shot.

The BC Centre for Disease Control recommends the flu shot to reduce the risk of getting sick from influenza or spreading it to others, including vulnerable people.

Creative Writing Contest

The Ripple Foundation, a registered Canadian charity, is calling for entries for the Kids Write for Kids Creative Writing Contest for students in Grades 4-8. Winners become published authors. The proceeds from the book sales are donated to the winner's charity of choice to foster a sense of philanthropy.
