The ITA Assistant Coach of the Year honors an assistant coach who has exhibited outstanding leadership in ways that contribute to on and off-court team performance.
The 2021 Spring season was historic for the Southwestern Men's Tennis team and Coach Chas Mayer had a lot to do with it. The Pirates put together an outstanding season going 15-3 and finishing ranked No. 10 in the nation. The ranking was the highest in program history. Additionally, with Mayer's guidance, Southwestern qualified for the NCAA tournament for the first time in program history. Finally, Mayer helped coach the Pirates' No. 1 singles player, Hunter Bajoit, to ITA Singles All-American honors.
