Dear University community,

  • This summer is truly a scorcher. Please stay hydrated and limit outdoor activities to early morning and late evening. The Texas energy grid continues to be challenged, so please do your part by conserving energy on and off-campus. Stay cool!
  • Our next Dusty Camp is July 29 - 30. Let’s welcome everyone with a Dustdevil smile as they navigate their new shared home. Camps continue through August.
  • If you haven’t had a chance, please make plans to see the Laredo Theatre Guild International’s summer production of the Tony Award-winning musical, “Into the Woods.” Performances continue this week on Wednesday through Sunday. The cast includes some familiar TAMIU faces too! Show details are here, including ticket purchase. Students, see below for a limited opportunity to score free tickets!
  • Our TAMIU students and never fail to impress. Meet Alma González De La Cruz, a College of Education student, three-time President's Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) – Gold Level recipient, AND the current Miss Laredo 2022 titleholder.
  • We’re reaching out to students to help them finalize plans to join us this Fall. We’ve set aside Saturday, Aug. 20 for “Unfinished Business: A TAMIU Open House and Welcome Day.” It’s free of charge, open to parents and their students, and can help get your Fall in order. Here’s more.
  • Books IncludED has returned to help you save money. It now folds costs for required books and course materials into your semester’s tuition and fees. Find out more on our dedicated website, which includes answers to commonly asked questions in a special FAQ section.
  • Know someone who hasn’t been able to finish their degree because of financial constraints? Our Comeback Programs are helping resuming students to do just that for undergraduate or graduate degrees. Go here for more.
  • Registration for Fall classes is ongoing. Classes begin Monday, Aug. 22, 2022. Use our new TAMIU Fund$Finder, a search tool that helps students find scholarships on and off-campus is available. Details are available at go.tamiu.edu/fundSfinder
  • The threat of COVID-19 continues here, across our State, nation and world. The use of recommended face coverings/masks, and rigorous hand-washing can help reduce your exposure risk. Find out more about on-campus testing.

TAMIU Dusty Camp, Transfer and Parent Orientation Sessions Set for July, August

Before beginning the Fall 2022 semester at TAMIU, incoming freshman and transfer students will take part in a time-honored campus tradition. Affectionately known as Dusty Camp, the two-day student orientation experience focuses on helping incoming students learn more about University services, academic expectations, and receive a first-hand experience of student life on campus.

Dusty Camps are expected to take place throughout the summer months, with sessions scheduled for:

  • Dusty Camp IV: Thursday, July 28 and Friday, July 29
  • Dusty Camp V: Thursday, Aug. 4 and Friday, Aug. 5
  • Dusty Camp VI: Thursday, Aug. 18 and Friday, Aug. 19

TAMIU Registration for Summer, Fall 2022 Underway

Late registration for Fall continues through Friday, Aug. 26. The Texas A&M University System Board or Regents has announced that all A&M System campus, including TAMIU, will not increase tuition for this Fall, providing parents and students with relief from current inflation impacts.
  • TAMIU offers nearly 100 undergraduate, graduate and doctoral degree programs. View TAMIU's Academic Catalog for a full list of degree programs at catalog.tamiu.edu
  • Prospective TAMIU students can visit the Future Dustdevil Hub, go.tamiu.edu/dustdevilhub, a digital resource center for future TAMIU students and parents to learn about incoming student admissions, registration procedures and access How-To videos.
  • The Registration Hub, https://www.tamiu.edu/reghub, offers insight into Registration with content, guides and resources specific to undergraduate and graduate students. It is designed in concert with both undergraduate and graduate advisors to provide students information on the registration process. It addresses issues like advising and holds, and includes a dynamic FAQ with answers and contacts.
  • TAMIU students can access a universe of scholarships available to them in the palm of their hand. With a smartphone, students can now access thousands of relevant scholarships through "TAMIUFund$Finder," a search tool that helps students find scholarships on and off-campus. To begin, students need only visit go.tamiu.edu/fundSfinder
  • Pay for classes online or create an installment plan at tamiu.edu/pay | Learn more about tuition payments at tamiu.edu/comptroller/bursar.shtml
  • For more information about financial assistance, email the University's Office of Financial Aid at financialaid@tamiu.edu to learn about options such as scholarships, grants, loans and student employment.

This Fall, Books Included Helps TAMIU Students Save Money 

The program, initially launched and funded with CARES funding during the Pandemic, now conveniently folds costs for required books and course materials into the semester’s tuition and fees. This ensures that enrolled, degree-seeking students have all materials on Day One of classes, Monday, Aug. 22, 2022. 

A dedicated website with additional information and important links is available. It includes an FAQ and step-by-step guidance to how the program works.

TAMIU Education Major and Miss Laredo Titleholder Earns Multiple Volunteer Awards

A senior majoring in Interdisciplinary Studies with EC-6 Certification and a Bilingual Emphasis, Alma González De La Cruz is a three-time President's Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) – Gold Level recipient and the current Miss Laredo 2022 titleholder.

LTGI’S ‘Into the Woods' Performances Continue at TAMIU

Laredo Theater Guild International in cooperation with TAMIU and sponsored by the Guadalupe and Lilia Martinez Foundation, is pleased to return to the stage with Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s beloved Tony Award-winning musical Into the Woods. Into the Woods continues performances at TAMIU’s Center for the Fine and Performing Arts Theater. Performances the second week are scheduled Wednesday through Saturday, July 27 – July 30 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, July 31 at 3 p.m.

Students can pick up their free ticket to Into the Woods! Tickets are still available for pick up for this week's shows. The deadline to pick up your ticket is 4 p.m. each weekday. Only 25 free tickets are available per show. Students are encouraged to bring their student ID for ticket pickup. Tickets can be picked up at AIC 373.

General Admission tickets are $25 and Senior/Student Tickets are $20. Tickets can be purchased online at www.laredotheaterguild.org and at the door starting one hour before showtime.

TAMIU Athletics Update

TAMIU is a member of the Lone Star Conference and competes in 11 sports: volleyball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's cross country, softball, baseball, men's and women's soccer, and men's and women's golf.
