Hastings Photography Trip LPGS Y12 A Level Photography

Back in October 2021 we were meant to go to Hastings for our annual location photography shoot based on our Year 12 project theme, A Sense of Place. However due to the fuel crises the trip was cancelled. This turned out to be very fortunate as it poured with rain all day.

So we rearranged the trip for Thursday 18th November 2021 and the day turned out to be just fine, beautiful blue sky and a sense of warmth in the air....

On arrival at Hastings we parked up and then set off to the fishing boat area on the main beach front to take both digital and analogue images in the style of two photographers we had been studying in class; Aaron Siskind and Paul Kenny.

Thea Year 12 students worked hard to capture images that 'spoke' volumes about the space we were in, its history, its ecology, its sense of time and place.

Back in the studios at LPGS the students now have a mass of digital images to render and clean using Adobe Lightroom and then they will push and manipulate them even further using both Adobe Photoshop and NIK software. In addition, they have a mass of analogue Ilford films to process and the explore via different experimental printing techniques in our darkrooms.
