**Always be sure to scroll to the bottom of our newsletter for OPPORTUNITIES AROUND MIS, GC, AND THE LOCAL COMMUNITY. This is where you will find opportunities that are being offered in the community such as swim, basketball, dance and many other activities for your child to become involved throughout the year.

first week of school

We had an awesome first four days of school. The students and staff hit the ground running, and we accomplished much. As with anything new, there were a few bumps in the road. However, today things ran much more smoothly than on day one, and we are hopeful that trend continues. We appreciate the flexibility the students showed throughout the first four days as we all adjusted to a new school year.

Open House/Meet the Teacher Nights: Thanks to everyone who took the time to attend. We had a great turnout, and I know this helps students feel more comfortable on the first day.

#thankfulthursday

A few summers ago, we had a large group of staff members meet on several occasions to discuss our old "Behavior Card." The goal was to find a way to make this a more positive communication tool for our parents and students. Each Friday, you will have the opportunity to review and sign your child's "Character Card." This card was created as a scaled feedback tool to provide you with, not only the traditional information you have always received, but also a glimpse into the positive choices and leadership that your child is displaying throughout his/her day.

Knowing this, the office staff is requesting your help throughout the school year. We would like to share with our staff regular, positive feedback from a variety of sources. Please take a few moments and use the link below to provide some encouragement to those folks that are making a major difference in your child's future. These comments can be anonymous, or you can provide your name. The office staff will use the provided comments every Thursday for our #thankfulThursday movement. The attached form can be completed, as little or often as you like, throughout the entire school year. We appreciate your support in growing the culture of gratitude that already exists at MIS!!

mis funrun

We need your help! This year we’re hosting a fundraising event to help our school raise $15,000 to help fund family nights, provide mini grants to teachers that directly impact student learning in the classroom, replenish recess materials and so much more. We’re a little over 2 weeks away from our Maxwell Intermediate Fun Run!

You can register your student on MYBOOSTER.COM ! Please take the time to go ahead and register your students. Be sure to check out all of our sharing functions on MYBOOSTER.COM to let others know how they can help support our school:

parentsquare

This communication tool is new to all of us; however, we are beginning to figure out the many features it offers. Some of you may have already signed up for P/T conferences or received other communication via this online platform. We ask for your patience as we continue this transition.

Should you have difficulties with the app there is ParentSquare Support that provides built-in help where you can contact us via ParentSquare. If for some reason you cannot get into the program, you can contact our technology department for support by emailing: support@gcsc.k12.in.us.

Spell Bowl

If your child would like to try-out for the spell bowl team, please click on the link below. Included are important dates and the try-out spelling list. If you have specific questions after reviewing the document, please reach out to Mrs. Tilley, Spell Bowl Coach, at atilley@gcsc.k12.in.us.

ride 360 - Transportation news

We would ask that each of you download the RIDE360 app and link your students for this school year. Through the app, you will be able to see your bus stop location and times as well as see the bus location on the map through GPS. Click below for directions on how to do this. This will go live on August 15th.

Maxwell Pick-up/Drop-off

- Doors open at 7:35am for Drop-off

- Pick up - 2:10pm Dismissal

Again this year, you will enter the drive west of the football field off of 500 North (BLUE LINE on picture below). The drop-off point will be located at the northeast doors (Gym). You will loop around and exit onto 500 North. If it is a possibility, we would encourage as many of you to head west on 500 North to eliminate some of the congestion on State Road 9.

Our south parking (ORANGE/RED) lot is for busses only between 7:20-7:55am and 1:35-2:25pm as busses stage there. At any other time of the day, this is used for parent parking. The east lot and a few spots south of the building (aqua) can be used if you need to enter the building during drop-off or pick-up times.

The drive on the far north of our property is for bus traffic only. There should be no parent traffic on this drive at any time.

To best ensure your child makes it to the classroom on time, and safely, please remember the following rules in car line:

Medical Information

For the latest information on immunizations and requirements for medicine drop-off, please check the GC Health Services Link. Mrs. Parsons, our Health Assistant, will be present at each of the open houses if you would need to drop medication off in the clinic.

2022-23 Greenfield-Central Breakfast/lunch

The school meals program is funded by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, school corporations across the country had been operating with the use of a federal waiver that allowed them to feed every child for free through the end of the last school year. The use of this waiver WILL NOT be available this school year and corporations will return to the traditional eligibility requirements for free, reduced and paid meals. This means that for 2022-2023 school year, our school corporation WILL BE charging students for breakfast and lunch.

Meal benefit applications for the 2022-2023 are available by clicking here. Households are encouraged to apply before the start of the school year to avoid unpaid meal charges.
