Adobe Analytics Health Dashboards Tools to help you ensure your implementation is healthy & up-to-date

Adobe has developed Excel tools that help you monitor the health of your organization's Analytics implementation.

  • The Analytics Health Dashboard dives deep into a single report suite and provides a view into data collected in every component (eVar, prop, and event). This can help point out if data has stopped collecting into a component so you can take action to correct the issue.
  • The Marathon Dashboard runs across all report suites in your organization and reports on component settings to help you ensure you are measuring consistently cross-suite.

The dashboards are maintained by Adobe Consulting. For assistance beyond the content of this page, please reach out to your Adobe Customer Success Manager (CSM) to request consulting support.

Using the Dashboards

Auditing happens both upstream on inbound data collection and downstream once report suites have been implemented. Here's where Adobe sees these dashboards fitting into your process:

  • Upstream Audit: Debugging tools, like Adobe Experience Cloud debugger, can help ensure data is sound upon ingest. However, these tools typically do not reflect processing that occurs after the hit is collected.
  • Downstream Audit: The Analytics Health & Marathon Dashboards aide in conducting an exhaustive audit of the health of your components (eVars, props, and events) after all hit processing has been completed. They give an accurate depiction of the data you will see in Adobe reporting UIs, e.g. Analysis Workspace, Report Builder, etc.

Customers use these dashboards in many ways; some run the dashboards the day after releases, while others run them once a week/month to keep a pulse on collected data.

System Requirements

The dashboards can be run on Windows machines and Macs that run VMWare Fusion. They need to be run with Excel 2013 (32-bit or 64-bit) or later in order to have the correct VBA plug-in libraries.

Authentication

To use the dashboards, you need access to Adobe's Analytics APIs. If you do not have the access outlined below, please reach out to an Adobe Analytics administrator at your organization.

Analytics Health Dashboard

To use the Analytics Health Dashboard v3.0+, you need 1) an Experience Cloud login with System Admin OR Developer access and 2) Adobe I/O OAuth credentials established to connect to the 2.0 Analytics API.

Version 3.07+ use oAuth Server-to-Server authentication. Once an I/O integration has been configured with Analytics and the oAuth Server-to-Server authentication method, authentication can occur with two easy steps:

  1. Copy the client ID, client secret, and IMS organization credentials into your instance of the dashboard under Add-ins > Analytics Health Dashboard > Input Credentials in Excel.
  2. Authenticate under Add-ins > Analytics Health Dashboard > Authenticate in Excel. Successful authentication will display “Successfully Authenticated” in the Excel status bar.

Marathon Dashboard

To use the Marathon dashboard (and Analytics Health Dashboards prior to v3.0), you need to have a Web Services API 1.4 user name & shared secret.

Analytics Health Dashboard Contents

The Analytics Health Dashboard dives deep into a single report suite and includes a Component Summary, Individual Component Deep-dive, and Alert Summary. Version 3.0+ has been completely rebuilt on the Analytics 2.0 API and runs in minutes. The dashboard includes:

  • Components Summary: A comparison of current day/week data vs a 90 day average across all components. This tab is the most used in this dashboard & can help you see if tracking dips or spikes for a specific component so that you can take action faster.
Overall Component Summary
  • Individual Component Summary: Deep dive into a specific dimension (measured by a specific event) to better understand the data being collected in the dimension. This tab is helpful for making sure a dimension is being set with the right data.
Individual Component Summary
  • Alerts Summary: A summary of all components that had an anomaly for day prior to updating the dashboard. This summary can be inserted into an email for easy distribution to teams that need to look into the anomalous behaviors.

Marathon Dashboard Contents

The Marathon Dashboard runs across all report suites in your organization and reports on component settings to help you ensure you are measuring consistently cross-suite. It includes a report suite list, a comparison of Admin variable settings, and a comparison of Admin Report Suite settings across report suites. This dashboard is built on the Analytics 1.4 API.

  • Report Suites: A list of all report suites in your organization, with the ability to run the subsequent dashboard views for all or a subset of suites. Includes historical data trends in aggregate for the report suite.
Report Suites
  • Multi-Suite Variables & Events: The Admin settings for all variables, across all report suites. This tab is the most used in this dashboard & can help you quickly see if data is being measured inconsistently cross-suite.
Multi-suite Variables & Events
  • Multi-Suite Admin Settings: The report suite settings defined in the Admin Console, across all report suites. This tab can help you quickly identify if there are inconsistencies in report suite-level settings, which will drive data discrepancies cross-suite.
