Yappy Hour Recap

All we can say is WOW! 🐾 We had so much fun at Yappy Hour on Friday. Thank you to all of our four-legged friends (and their humans!) who joined us at Sly Fox Brewing Company in support of East Coast Bulldog Rescue. 🐶

Shoutout to Kai’s Creations Pittsburgh for the adorable drawings. 🖍 🐕

Member of the Month

Meet Jillian Brinling, the new IUP MPI student chapter president. Jillian chose hospitality because she wanted to be in a role that wasn’t entirely behind the scenes but also a role that had a person-to-person aspect. Jillian currently studies events at Indian University of Pennsylvania, because she like seeing the events come to life. "From the planning stage to the execution, watching it all come together is so fun," Jillian says. Jillian's favorite part of being a member of MPI is that there are such strong connections between students learning about events and event planners. The wealth of knowledge being shared within MPI is inspiring, and Jillian is excited to carry that on after she graduates. A fun fact about Jillian is that she has never traveled outside of the Eastern time zone! Read on for some fun facts about Jillian!

  • ❤️ What do you love most about meetings & events? I love seeing the reaction on people’s faces when they see a fully set up event space for the first time. Being a part of creating a once-in-a-lifetime experience is something I love to do and will never get tired of.
  • 🤔What do you want to get out of MPI Pittsburgh? I want to connect with event planners and vendors in the city so that if I do end up getting a job in Pittsburgh I will be well connected. The feeling of having an army of people behind you in an industry like events when anything can pop up is something I hope for as my career progresses.
  • 💡 What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given? The best piece of advice I have ever been given was this past summer at my internship with the Pro Football Hall of Fame. There, I met some really amazing people. But one piece of advice resonated the most with me and that is to be a roller coaster. Life has ups and downs, but the whole ride should be fun. I will remember the conversation I had with that person very fondly.
  • ⚡ If you had one superpower, what would it be? My one superpower would be being in multiple places at once. In an industry like events, running around like crazy is a part of the job. Being able to be in more than one place would help significantly because events have many moving parts. As hard as I try, I can only be in one place multitasking to the best of my ability.
  • ✈️ What is your dream vacation? My dream vacation is to go to the Netherlands. I have never flown overseas, but if I had the opportunity going to the Netherlands would be a dream come true. From the pictures I have seen it is beautiful all year round and has a lot to offer from tulip fields to cycling trails.
  • 🍚What is your favorite restaurant in Pittsburgh? I enjoy Amels regularly, however, Alla Famiglia is my annual treat for my birthday.
  • 🍿 What is your guilty pleasure? My guilty pleasure is going to the movies by myself! It’s so fun to get to decide what movie to see, what snacks to get, and where to sit. It’s nice to spend some alone time with myself to recharge and do something I enjoy!
  • What is your most-used emoji? My most used emoji is the hands that make a heart. I use this emoji a lot because I think it adds a layer of appreciation at the end of a sentence!

Did You Know?

September is......

About National Hispanic Heritage Month
