Week 4 - term 1a

Six of our class had their second visit to the WEST Science Club at Newcastle’s Centre for Life, the focus of this weeks session light. The children looked at the three base colours of all light (blue, red and green) and learned about how the colours mixed to make other colours. The group investigated how light travels and the different types of light.

Are still reading Eye of the Wolf in English and this week we have worked on a balanced argument on whether zoos are good or bad places. We will comte our write up next week before moving on to another piece of writing.

Our reading sessions this week have focussed on mountains - the types of mountains in the world and what their climates and weather is like.

This week saw members of our class present their reasons on why they should be a house captain to the rest of the school. The brave children stood informs of all the staff and children in years 1 to 6 and explained why people should pick them for the prestigious position.

This week also saw us visit SafetyWorks! on Whickham View. We spent a couple of interesting hours there learning about how to stay safe at home, on the Metro and while we are out and about. We also learned about what to do in the case of a fire at our house.

We ended our week on a high nite, after several days of children presenting why they should be a house captain, members of each house voted. Year 6 came up trumps and 5 children were awarded the honour. Well done to all of those who put themselves forward but a huge congratulations to our winners - Mollie (Yellow), Paul and Lewis (Red) and Kenzie and Greater (Blue).
