2021-22 TSD Outstanding Teacher Award

Four Schroeder teachers were nominated for the TSD Outstanding Teacher Award this year! These incredible teachers are recognized for going above and beyond for our students. Mrs. Bolden, Mrs. Kocher, Mrs. Polena and Mrs. Stacey have demonstrated excellent work in the classroom and have impacted the district beyond the classroom. They were among other outstanding Troy School District teachers whom were nominated by parents, students and colleagues. All four teachers will be honored, along with other Troy School District Teachers of the Year, at the April TSD School Board meeting. We would like to thank them for their dedication and extra effort in helping our students. Congratulations Mrs. Bolden, Mrs. Kocher, Mrs. Polena and Mrs. Stacey on your well-deserved award!

2021-22 TSD Outstanding Teacher Award Nominees

MARCH IS READING MONTH!

New COVID Protocols – As you have read information from Kerry Birmingham, the Troy School District has some updated COVID protocols. Please be aware of the following revisions.

  • Starting on Monday, February 28, masks are strongly recommended.
  • Keep in mind that students are required to wear a mask at school through the end of the day on Friday, February 25.
  • All students must continue to wear a mask on the bus. This practice will remain in place and will not be lifted on February 28.
  • You will receive information if this practice changes. If your child tests positive for COVID, they must wear a mask for 5 days when they return to school.
  • Please work with your child on following your decision to wear or not wear a mask.

2021-22 Outstanding Support Staff Award Nominations Start NOW!

Think about an amazing para-educator, secretary, health care aide, food service employee, custodian/maintenance worker, office personnel, technology, safety/security, bus driver or anyone who serves a supporting role in educating our students. These are the folks on our front line, making an impact on students from the beginning of the day to the end and so often, their above and beyond contributions go unrecognized. Here is your chance to help us say "Thank you" to the best of the best!

The nomination process this year is completely online. You just fill out the form, upload up to three letters of recommendation and you are good to go. When you enter your email at the beginning of the process, you will receive confirmation that your nomination was received. Please note that the nomination form has to be filled out completely to receive consideration. If there is anything you cannot answer or need help with, please ask your building principal. Click the button below to access the form. The deadline to nominate that special employee is FRIDAY, MARCH 4 AT 5:00 PM.

Bagel Day Rescheduled - Due to the snow day today, Bagel Day has been moved to next Friday, February 25th.

Change of After School Plans - Our students’ safety is our number one priority. If there is a change to your child’s normal dismissal plans, a note must be written and submitted to the office in the morning. We understand that emergencies do happen, but frequent changes made at the end of the day can be confusing for everyone. Thank you!

Spring Parent Teacher Conferences Coming Soon! - Spring Parent Teacher Conferences will be held on Thursday, March 17th. Students will have a half day of school with a 12:59pm dismissal time. Conferences will be held in the afternoon from 1:45pm-4:40pm and in the evening from 5:45pm-8:40pm. There are a limited number of conference sessions available. Therefore, teachers are not able to meet with every child's parent. Invites will be sent out in a couple weeks. Please check your child’s backpack for a document about conferences.

Lost & Found Items

Please review the following pictures of the Lost & Found of unlabeled belongings. If you recognize an item, please have your child retrieve it from the Lost & Found located near the art room. Our Lost & Found coordinator will also have these items accessible for parents (weather permitting) at the March Is Reading Month Family Event on March 14th.

If you have questions or need help with these items, please email Mrs. Brink at: brinkmelissaj@gmail.com

Schroeder 5th grade students celebrated Valentine’s Day by demonstrating one of our core values - KINDNESS! Students painted canvases to give to the residents of a local senior assisted living facility. Their creations came from their hearts and was well received.

Third Grade Conservationists

Third graders learn about the important natural resources in Michigan. Students study how they are used and their positive and negative consequences on our environment!

Stepping into the Past!

Second grade Schroeder teachers and students dressed up in vintage-like clothes for their visit the Troy Historical Museum. The field trip helped enhance their understanding of what school life was like in Troy back in the 1800's as part of their social studies unit.
