UNPARALLELED ACADEMIC EXPERIENCE
Our Depth
You will work in small classes with faculty members who are outstanding scholars and researchers — and passionate teachers. They will push you, challenge you, inspire you, and work with you on your own research and creative projects.
The OWU Connection
And academics at OWU means something more. It’s The OWU Connection. It’s our commitment to help you find your passion and build your pathway to a fulfilling career. You will learn to think big by connecting ideas in different disciplines. You will go global, with opportunities to immerse yourself in different cultures. And you will get real experience, connecting theory and practice, connecting the classroom and real world.
Opportunities such as hands-on coursework, field experience, travel-learning, and internships are built into the curriculum, and they start from your very first semester.

Athletic and Academic Balance
As coaches, we understand the off field responsibilities you have as a student-athlete. We keep your job as a student in mind when scheduling practices, games and off-field commitments.
Practice Time: We limit on-field practice to two hours each day to allow adequate time for academic commitments.
Travel Time: By minimizing travel time on weekdays, we minimize missed class time to reduce stress and emphasize our focus on academics.
Academic Check-ins: Throughout the course of each semester, we check in with each student-athlete individually to make sure they are on track to reach their full academic potential.

The OWU Difference
"I chose OWU the moment I left campus after the 2014 field hockey camp there. Not only did I feel connected with the girls on the OWU field hockey team, but I felt at home with such an inviting environment and beautiful campus. The students, clubs, organizations, and administration really do come together to help the students get where they need to be for their careers, but also, create an atmosphere where you can figure out and strive for where you want to be after you graduate. The science programs here stuck out to me because I knew that's what I wanted to pursue. The zoology department has great professors and provides amazing opportunities to do research, get internships with the Columbus Zoo, and extend students' knowledge through a wide range of classes. That's stuck out to me a lot and helped me make my decision to come to OWU to not only learn but also experience the opportunities that this school has to offer."
