Headteacher Comment

On Wednesday this week, I was a very proud Headteacher, as we had a visit from 17 members of the David Ross Trustee Board. Everyone was so impressed with how hard-working the children are; how vibrant and inviting the classrooms are; and how skilled and knowledgeable all the staff are who guide them in their learning and wider school life. Head Boy, Darius and Phoebe spoke eloquently and enthusiastically about their time at Greenfields, which is particularly lovely as Darius has been with us since Reception.

Book and Biscuit continues to be very well attended - thank you to everyone who stays on a Thursday morning. I am also now happy to announce that parents/carers will be invited into Flipping Greenfields again after the half term break, last thing on Friday afternoons. For families new to Greenfields, this is a chance to find out about next week's learning, so your child can get a head start over the weekend.

Thank you for your continued support and enjoy the weekend ahead.

Tri-Golf

Both Year Three and Four pupils took part in a Tri-Golf 'broadening horizon' scheme, this is to get children trying sports they may not have played before. All participants did extremely well, getting Greenfields into the top 3 schools out of 10! I am extremely proud of everyone who took part and did so well.

Maths Superstars!

Terrific Tigers have been learning about fractions this week and 'wow' they have blown their teacher away with their understanding and knowledge of halves and quarters. During the lesson the children used blocks to help visualise how to half different numbers. They worked well with their partners and were able to complete the activity with ease.

Farm Fun

Year Two had a great time at the DRET farm at Nevill Holt this week. The children saw lots of animals. They enjoyed feeding the lambs, pond dipping and collecting eggs to make yummy eggy bread!

Let's Be 'Avin' you!

The Reception year group had a visitor this week. P.C.S.O Mike Bowes came to see the children and even brought a police van for the children to sit in the back where they transport the prisoners. Even though the classes enjoyed the visit, they were also taught how serious their actions can be and that the van isn't always a good place to be!

Home School Agreement

As we become more used to our online way of working, we thought it was important to add to our home/school agreement (that you signed when your child started at Greenfields) to include online learning. Please follow the link below to complete this short addition relating to online learning with Greenfields Primary School and Nursery.

Class Code and Google Link

These have been updated for the classes in 2021-22, so click on the link for the class you will be in in September.

Teachers are looking forward to posting their ‘Flipping Greenfields’ videos every Friday next term in time for the weekend. Each one is all about next week’s learning, so will get your child prepared for a flying start on Monday. Research shows that children who feel prepared for the coming week are less anxious about school, happier to get up and go on a Monday morning and achieve better than those who are not.
