2016-17 SEASON REVIEW: KASSIE JONES SENIOR | GUARD | LUFKIN, TEXAS

SEASON HIGHLIGHTS

  • Finished with 9.1 points, 1.5 assists and one steal per game this season, including 10.5 points per game.
  • Named to the 2017 Southland Conference All-Tournament Team after scoring 16 points per game and leading the Blue and Green to its first semifinals since 2010.
  • Reached 20 points on seven occasions, including 28 against McNeese.
  • Led the team in scoring on eight occasions during her senior season.
  • Became 11th player in school history to record 100 steals with her final takeaway against Nicholls at home.

JUMPSTARTER JONES

  • The Islanders were 5-2 when Jones reached double figures.
  • Came off the bench to score 21 points against Nicholls.
  • Averaged 15.2 points per game over the final 13 contests of the year.

IN THE RECORD BOOKS

  • Jones finished her career on the Island and the most prolific free throw shooter in program history.
  • Claimed the single-season record with an 88.4-percent clip as a senior.
  • Ranked second on the career free throw percentage chart 82.8-percent, second only to assistant coach Jasmine Shaw's record of 87-percent.
  • Moved up to eighth in all-time steals with 118.
  • Set the single-game record for steals with eight against HBU in 2015.

COACH ON KASSIE...

Kassie had a wonderful career. She culminated her on court performance being recognized “All Tournament in the Southland Conference Tournament.” You always set a goal to be playing your best basketball when it counts most. She accomplished that goal. Plus she will graduate on time.
