Principal's Message
We have had amazing end of term this week. We celebrated Children's Mental health Week on Thursday. Children engaged in a range of activities from meditation to dance; to making bird feeders and sculptures from nature. There were amazing discussions happening around how we need to express our feelings and share our thoughts.
Learning Round-up
Maple - The final week of spring 1 has arrived and what a busy one it has been! In Talk for Writing we have completed our transformational tale hot writes, In maths we have completed our topic on fractions. (The children have blown me away with the progress that they have made). In reading we have been practising our fluency skills. On Thursday we celebrated the importance of mental health and why it is important that we look after it. The children enjoyed making natural pictures and bird feeders. This term the children have worked so hard in all areas of their learning and I'm looking forward to seeing what the next half term brings.
How is this the final week of Spring 1? We’ve had such a blast in Silver Birch. We’ve grown as a group and individually. It has been wonderful to see so many children improving in their subject knowledge as well as their attitude towards school. I am incredibly impressed with our class! We’ve loved reading out loud in our Talk for Reading lessons this week and have shown a good level of fluency, where we emphasise certain words and have been amazing in our fractions unit in maths - we’ve really understood what a fraction is and are making great progress! Well done Silver Birch, enjoy the half term!
Pine - This term has flown by and the children have spent this final week working hard to finish off all their learning from the term. Across their final textile pieces in art, Geography reports about the impacts of migration, and their instruction text hot writes, the children have impressed me with their effort, recall and enthusiasm. We have also been amazing with our decimals unit in maths, and have developed a really solid understanding of decimals. Well done for all the hard work, and I hope everyone has a lovely half term!
Elder - Our final week has been a fabulous one, filled with art, science and fabulous pieces of writing. In Elder we completed our final textile pieces in art, wrote some fabulous instruction texts about how to catch Macavity and conducted a fair test on where is best to dry a paper towel. We have continued with our decimals unit and have converted halves and quarters into decimals. Have a restful half term, I am looking forward to all we will achieve next term!
I cannot believe it is already the last week of term. This term has flew by and Willow have been doing amazing things. It has been a lovely last week completing our topics ready for new adventures next term. We have completed our suspense stories, we have worked on decimals in maths and have concluded our Talk 4 Reading on the theme of love and tragedy. We have also been working on our mental health week. This has allowed us to work on some wonderful activities including artwork, connecting as a class and poetry. I hope everyone in Willow has a well deserved break and I look forward to seeing them again after half term.
A busy final week for Sequoia class. We have completed our suspense stories in Talk 4 Writing - impressing Mrs Young and Miss Chowdhry with our complex sentences! We have also enjoyed finishing our art unit, creating wonderful prints inspired by Salvador Dali. Enjoy the half term break Sequoia class. We are very much looking forward to more adventures after the holiday.
This week, Oak class have thoroughly enjoyed completing their end of unit Science TAPS assessment looking at animals who are exceptions to the different classification groups such as mammals and amphibians. This week the children have also completed their hot write in their Talk for Writing writing a warning tale based on their model text titled Safia and the Captain.
This week Acer have written their hot write based on our model text. They have been very creative with their ideas and some have chosen to set their warning tale in World War 2, using their knowledge for our history topic. I hope everyone has a fantastic half term break, I look forward to seeing all the great work they do next term.
