Nurturing the infinite worth of every person through love, respect, perseverance, honesty and forgiveness
So, we approach Easter after another disrupted term in Education. Your children seem to have bounced back to us happy and hard-working! We are really grateful for all your support during closure – many of our children have returned from this lockdown in a strong position; clearly the stresses and strains of covid19 did not prevent you from being great home-educators – so a huge thank you from us to you all!!
All children in Yr1-6 have recently undertaken our termly assessments, which will enable us to tailor the teaching to their needs after the holiday. You will receive your child’s data set shortly. For those of you with children on Individual Education Plans (ISPs), you will also receive an invitation to their review. For all others, the teachers will be able to reassure you that there are many intervention plans in place for those who need it.
Staffing sees a few small changes –Jess Gray and Linda Staniscia reduce their hours but take on some of the Catch-Up groups, and Claire Rogers returns as KS1 TA for the Summer term. We look forward to welcoming her back. We’re also hoping that the Summer term will see the arrival of Flora – our school dog!! Watch this space for more details…
Peterborough Diocese Education Trust
We have learnt that Duncan Mills, the CEO of our trust, PDET, has made the decision to retire at the end of this academic year. During the three-and-a-half years he has been in post, he has been an ambassador, champion and friend to the schools in the PDET family – and we thank him for his support. A national campaign to find his replacement has launched and we will let you know when that reaches its conclusion.
Safeguarding
Safeguarding remains paramount within our school where we protect the welfare and safety of all members of our community. We work together to create a healthy, active, caring and safe environment to protect the physical, emotional, social and mental welfare of all of our school community.
All people who work with our children and on behalf of Isham CE Primary School comply with safeguarding procedures in relation to recruitment, risk assessments, off and on site procedures, environmental safety, e-safety and as part of their every day practice with children. It is the responsibility of all staff to know safeguarding procedures, apply the principles in practice, attend training and report any concerns.
Every organisation has to have a ‘named person’ for safeguarding children and young people – known as a Designated Safeguarding Lead.
All adults in school have regular training to ensure that they are aware of the signs of abuse and know what to do about their concerns. They have a duty to report these to the Designated Safeguarding Lead.
Isham CE Primary School has a legal duty to talk to other agencies such as Children’s Social Care and the Police if we feel that a child may be at risk of harm.
We are committed to safeguarding and meeting the needs of all our pupils. If you have any concerns report to:-
Child Protection Lead + Designated Safeguarding Lead : Alexandra Price
Deputy Safeguarding Leads: Kirstin Howarth + Becky Hawke
Please see our website for further information on safeguarding, together with our updated Behaviour and Anti-Bullying Policies.

It is lovely to see everyone using the running track for their daily mile!
Since returning to school, the children in Year 3/4 and Year 5/6 have taken part in a Sportshall Athletics Virtual competition. Each child completed five events, a pentathlon, under competition rules here in school.
The scores were entered in to a spreadsheet which earned points and calculated a ‘level’ for each child. The top 5 boys and top 5 girls in each class will make up our team score. The scores have been sent to Northamptonshire Sport where they will be compared with other schools across the five Northamptonshire Sports Partnerships. Some children helped to deliver the competition by becoming ‘young leaders’ for the day. The children all worked hard to achieve their best scores in the five events; the Long Jump, Vertical Jump, Chest Push, Speed Bounce and 10 x 10m Shuttle Run.
We now await the results! Well done everyone!!

Easter Gardens
Years 1 and 2 had a lovely afternoon learning about Easter and created their own Easter gardens. They went on a hunt around the school for all the things they would need and were really thoughtful in the way they arranged them to create their gardens. Check out the pictures of some of their great work.

This week in school we have been thinking about the build up to Easter. Palm Sunday marks the beginning of Holy Week – the last week of Lent leading up to Easter. On Palm Sunday Christians remember Jesus’ triumphant arrival in Jerusalem. As Holy Week draws to a close and Easter approaches, we have Holy Wednesday, commemorating Judas Iscariot’s intent to betray Jesus; Maundy Thursday, commemorating the Last Supper Jesus shared with his disciples, and Good Friday, the day on which Christians around the world remember Jesus’ crucifixion and burial. With Good Friday over, Christians look forward to Easter Sunday, the day on which Jesus rose from his tomb.

A Prayer For The World Today and Our Care of God’s Creation
As our Diocesan Synod has recently discussed, debated and approved a new diocesan environmental policy, it seems pertinent to share with you a wonderful prayer from the Church of England Foundation for Educational Leadership for the world today and our need to care for God’s creation.
As always, many thanks for your continued support. Please do not hesitate to contact Alex Price or Kirstin Howarth, should you need.
