Plunkett Post TERM 4 WEEK 6

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Congratulations to the Healthy Hermits who participated in the Game Changer Challenge Grand Final on the 7th, 8th and 9th of November in Parramatta. The boys had a wonderful time together, worked really hard and presented an impressive pitch for this year’s wicked problem. They demonstrated great team work, design thinking skills and empathy. We congratulate the team on their achievements.

This week is set to be a big week – we have our school choir performing at the Shoalhaven Choral Festival on Tuesday at Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre. It is sure to be a great night.

We also our dance groups performing at the Schools Spectacular for 4 shows over 2 days with 2 additional days of dress rehearsals this week. We wish these groups all the best.

Our community event, ngurra (meaning country/home in Dharawal language) will be held on Sunday 4 December from 10.00am – 2.00pm. This event is a chance for our students to showcase to parents and the wider community what they have been learning in creative arts throughout the year. We hope that many of you are able to attend. We are hoping to turn this into an annual event.

Picking up students early/dropping off students late: It is Departmental policy that parents/carers collect their students from the office from the site children attend when they need to be picked up early. This helps us to ensure students are leaving with the correct adult and transfer of supervision from the school to parents/carers happened correctly. Staff will not let students leave the offices without an adult.

Likewise, when dropping off students late a parent/carer must walk them into the office and sign students in. This ensures we know that you know your child is late to school.

When students are sick and being sent home the office staff need to talk to parents/carers about the child and the symptoms they display as well as any treatment that may have been provided. As a result, students must be collected from the office. We understand that parking is at a premium and it can be hard to find somewhere to park but children will not be released from school to wait for parents at the front gate.

Parking Fines: We have had several parents parking outside the Primary site in the newly established all day bus zone. We have been informed that fines for parking in a bus zone are $362 + 2 demerit points. Please ensure that you park in designated zones to avoid these fines.

Finally, we only have 4 weeks of school left. Students finish the school year on Friday 16 December.
