ATCs, ACEOs & Sketchcards

I discovered Artist Trading Cards in 2013. I quickly became addicted and have been trading cards with people all over the world ever since.

MY PROCESS USING COPIC MARKERS

I use a piece of hard board covered in scrap paper under my cardstock. The card stock is specialty paper with my information printed on the back. This paper doesn't bleed, however most papers bleed with copic markers. They are alcohol based and refillable. Unfortunately they are not lightfast and fade easily.

The first pass is Pale Lemon yellow. The second pass for the shadows is a light green, Wax White.
I use a handful of skin tone markers to get the colors just right.
I bring in other fine tip markers for details.
Starting with the highlights, I use various shades for hair.
The hard part is done!
Here is my finished card. The dimensions are 2.5" x 3.5".
My marker collection
For the card on the right, I added some blue violet tones to the shadows. I am always experimenting to improve my process and final images. I often do 2 cards with different techniques to see what works better.
Here are examples of when I first started and how much I have improved in about a year. The first cards were done with colored pencils, the improved cards were done with Copic Markers.
