Welcome to Dickerson Middle School! The following information is intended to help you discover a little about our exciting music programs. Almost all of our incoming 6th graders sign up for a music ensemble each year. We are still not sure how sign up will work next year, but we know that we all look forward to helping your student develop a strong love for music and performance. Below you will find a few frequently asked questions about our programs, and a video that goes a little more in depth.

• This is the only opportunity for students to join a music group. Students cannot join in 7th or 8th grade.
• We do not allow students to switch between music groups.
• Joining a music group is a year-long commitment. Students cannot drop out after a semester.
• Since we see students every day for class, we do not require after-school rehearsals. We do, however, have after school concerts throughout the year that are required. Usually this consists of one or two nights for the entire year.
• Each student will have two connections classes a day. Students that join ONE music group will still be enrolled in either Health, PE, Art, Business, or Music Tech as the other connection.
