NEFC INTERNSHIP PROGRAM Coaching, Marketing, Event Operations, Sports Performance, and Facility Operations

The NEFC Internship Program is a critical talent pipeline for NEFC. Recognizing and developing the best coaching talent allows us to achieve success in the right way. Driven by a mission for developing our players for their next level, you will help deliver on our shared goals of excellence through a uniquely regional yet local community environment.

Recognizing and developing the best talent is something which sits at the heart NEFC. That is why Interns not only work on the field, but gain experience off of it. Interns can work on meaningful projects in the field of Marketing, Event Operations, Sports Performance, Facility Operations, and Coaching Education.

Join NEFC for a three-month or full year internship - it is an opportunity for college students to put your knowledge into practice and develop your professional skills. With various locations across the state, NEFC helps balance everyone's busy schedule and studies. NEFC's headquarters are based in Northborough, MA, which is 30 minutes west of Boston and located between several major highways (I-495, I-90, I-290).

COACHING

As a Phase 2 coach working with the Junior Academy, you will be a key player in supporting the delivery of our grassroots programming as well as assisting with our 7v7 teams. You will work with a highly experienced coaching team to support the delivery of our curriculum as well as develop your own skills as you progress on your coaching journey.

Requirements

  • Learn the NEFC coaching philosophy, methodology and principles which will be incorporated into the delivery of the programs
  • Plan, prepare and deliver the ‘NEFC Technical DNA’ curriculum to the highest standard to the participants within the Junior Academy
  • Support the Lead Coach and the other coaches in the delivery operations on and off the pitch
  • Ensure all responsibilities both on and off-field given by the Lead Coach are completed within the timelines and to the standard required
  • Learn, develop and self-reflect on their own coaching delivery
  • Availability: A minimum of 2 weekday afternoons for 1.5 hours/day with the junior academy up to 2 weekday afternoons for 3 hours/day and 1 weekend afternoon working with both the Junior Academy and as a 7v7 Assistant.

MARKETING

We are seeking passionate content creators with expertise in videography, video editing, and/or graphic design. Projects will include planning, filming, editing and organizing video content, evaluating social media impact and developing new ideas for connecting with NEFC's marketing audience. This internship will provide a behind-the-scenes insight into how live events, marketing content and social media all come together to influence customer behavior.

Video & Photographic Content

  • Coordinate with marketing team to get aligned on content management systems and naming convention guidelines
  • Develop detailed content & shooting plans
  • Attend select NEFC events to capture content
  • Edit & produce final content to be distributed across NEFC marketing channels
  • Conduct other Marketing Content projects in support of management objectives
  • Research other Youth Clubs, Intercollegiate Programs, and Professional Sports Teams' community relations efforts and propose tailored strategies to Marketing Team.
  • Positively represent the NEFC across a multitude of functions and events.

Graphic Design

NEFC is looking for Marketing and Graphic Design Interns. The persons in this role will report to the Vice President and will work alongside the Social Media and Content Management Team.

  • Creativity is essential in this role and, while a knowledge of sports and soccer specifically, will be helpful, it is not required.
  • Applicants should be pursuing an undergraduate degree in Marketing, Digital Media, Communications, Graphic Design, Sports Management, or a related field.
  • Experience with graphic design platforms, such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, and Canva.
  • Assist in executing design content for a variety of branded marketing content with a strong focus on social media.
  • Assist in writing content for social media ads, print ads, and other marketing initiatives.

EVENT OPERATIONS

NEFC is looking for Marketing & Community Relations Interns. The persons in this role will report to the Marketing Manager and will work alongside the Social Media and Content Manager to help increase brand awareness, community relationships, and game attendance.

  • Initiate and nurture relationships with local restaurants, retailers, and other local businesses.
  • Learn how to plan and execute event fan zones, merchandise, and tournament booths
  • Brainstorm and present grassroots marketing efforts in surrounding communities to increase brand awareness.
  • Support NEFC's general efforts in the corporate and community relations space.
  • Research other Youth Clubs Professional Sports Teams' community relations efforts and propose tailored strategies to Marketing Team.

FACILITY OPERATIONS

  • Set-up and remove tables, chairs, equipment, staging, etc. as needed for special events and park functions.
  • Work concession and merchandise stand as needed learning POS System
  • Clean buildings, grounds, and restrooms, including restocking of supplies.
  • Emptying of trash barrels and transport of trash bags to staging areas.
  • Respond to additions and/or changes to set-ups in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Interact with clients to provide world-class service levels.
  • Maintain a safe, inviting, and pleasant atmosphere for guests.
  • Properly handle and use cleaning products and chemicals.
  • Maintain clean and orderly storage rooms.
  • Remove snow from various hardscape locations.
  • Assist in supervision of contracted maintenance, projects, and improvements as directed by Facilities Manager.
  • Front Desk duties as assigned by the Facility Manager.
  • Work with Facilities staff Internal Programming on day of event set-up.
  • Act as point of contact for outside organizations/groups holding events at the facility on the day of the scheduled event.

Coaching Curriculum/In-Service Training

Beyond the hands-on, practical experience you will gain through working with the Junior Academy, 7v7 teams, and/or other areas of NEFC as well as with our professional staff, we aim to promote an environment of continuing education and self-growth. To stimulate that environment, we have developed a curriculum which will include a mixture of classroom lectures (in-person and remote possible), interactive seminars, and assignments with individual feedback that will enhance your learning experience and aid your growth as a coach.
